This was one of those times Toph was really glad she couldn't see. There was this aura of freakiness around the bridge, and she had a feeling that seeing would just make it ten times worse. Especially when she'd spotted those...um...yeah. Dead. Things.

"Maybe," she said, pulling her jacket tighter around her body. "Unless it floats or flies or something. Any idea what kind of rabbit it is, or is this another place where we get freaky animals like 'just a bear' or 'just a pig'?" That would always be slightly disturbing to her.

"Umm..." Gray admittedly didn't know for sure, but from the sounds of things... "I guess it's supposed to be part rabbit and part person and one hundred percent kishin egg. So... basically a freak of nature monster type of deal."

He kept a look about, though the light was sort of interfering with his night vision, so he stepped away from it, inching closer to the bridge up ahead. It was actually pretty lucky that Toph didn't see like a normal person, because if she did, the darkness would have been a huge handicap. "I doubt it'll fly, though. Maybe... hop?"

d'you think they figured out his icing ability? terra_inflexus February 15 2011, 05:05:10 UTC
"I will never get used to rabbits that just 'hop'," Toph grumbled, following closer to Gray. "And I am so glad I don't see details, because a human-rabbit cross sounds disgusting. Anyway, you think it'll show up early if we go in after it?"

Probably not? They can figure it out here, though. oopsnoclothes February 15 2011, 05:28:40 UTC
Gray sort of knew what she meant. Weird animal crosses, or even human-animal crosses, weren't unheard of in his own world. Just look at Happy, Charle, and Lily - they were all flying cats. Technically, they weren't from Earthland, but that didn't mean his point was moot.

"Yeah... imagine that fluffy bunny tail on some dude. That's a mental image I'm not proud of having," Gray admitted. Sharing disturbing mental images was caring, though. "I'm okay with going in there if you are. I should probably transform first, so your sight works better..."

With that, he grabbed Toph's hand and transformed into his Ice Lance form. It was odd, but the chilly temperature seemed to make him happier in this form than in his human one. "Bet you're glad you brought gloves this time."

"Duh. Oh, yeah, apparently, it's getting colder back in the city," she muttered, taking a minute to get used to the sudden boost in her sight. "We are not turn the cold air down any more than it is, got it?" She shifted her grip before taking a few slow steps towards the bridge.

If he had a face, he'd glare with it moodily. "I don't really consider over 70 degrees 'cold', but it's better than over 90. And I don't know why you tell me that, I'll just turn the air down more when you're not looking."

"Fine, you can deal with me when you freeze my feet off with your cold air obsession." So far, so good. Not a bunny-person-thing in sight. "Hope you're good at ostrich horse-back rides."

"I'm sure I could handle it," he said dryly. "You're not exactly hard to carry. Watch out for dead bodies hanging from the top of the bridge, though."

Hopefully, there wouldn't be any. That would mean the kishin egg hadn't killed anyone recently. But you never know.

"Oh, you mean like that one that I totally can't see because it's in the air?" Toph sighed, carefully using Gray to poke around the air above her. She had to give him some credit--he didn't forget as often as, say, Sokka or Aang. Not that she minded, since it gave her a reason to tease and harass him.

"Don't think there's anything there."

"Yeah, the ones you might run into and freak out over any second now because you can't see them since they're in the air," Gray grumbled. He tried to listen for any suspicious sounds, look around for any suspicious sights... but there was nothing. If anything, it was too quiet. He couldn't even hear the wind through the trees, or crickets, or anything...

"What kind of--whoa!" Something--it was a little blurry for some reason--moved under the bridge. Without missing a beat, Toph swung Gray in it's general direction. If it was a human, they'd get out. If it wasn't, then it was time to do some butt-kicking.

Gray couldn't see much of anything, but if Toph thought something was there, he wasn't about to argue the fact. Something was definitely there. The squelching sound it made, like a steak being flung across the ground, made this abundantly clear.

But why a sound like that? Unless... "Oh, ew. Ten deathbucks says that was a dead rabbit."

Toph turned a little green. "Stupid rabbits, getting in the way," she muttered. "I forget, can you see anything while like this? Because I'm getting a whole..." She trailed off, focusing on a largish shape coming up. "Oh Spirits."

Okay, that? That had to be their target. It was too freakishly shaped to be a person, and she was pretty sure it had rabbit ears. "I am so glad I can't see this thing in detail."

"Yeah... I can see. Not normal sight, just like how I'm not talking normally..."

It was then that right behind the dead rabbit, the Bunny Man appeared. Gray was also quite glad he couldn't see it in detail due to the darkness, because the silhouette it made against the lamp-light outside was seriously bad enough. It had bunny ears, and if he wasn't mistaken, a tail. It also stank like a huge pile of bunny shit. Gray couldn't wait for it to be dead and reduced to a single glowing soul. "Let's rip that bastard a new one."

"I can get behind that." And that was the last thing Toph said before running at the Bunny Man. She used her Seismic Soul to slow it down, wincing as it started to cry. Apparently, it didn't take too kindly to having it's paw-feet-things trapped in quicksand.

Yeah, that sound was one he'd be hearing in his head for a while. Still, he determinedly set to matching his and Toph's soul wavelengths, intensifying the inner vibration that was bound to make them stronger.
