Prince is perfectly okay with strategy, but just going in and doing whatever the situation called for was also something he could do quite well. Spitfire need not think it might not have been the most inspiring thing since it was certainly a very welcome statement to boot.

"I think I like that a whole lot better!"

Of course, winging it means that they would have to do.... nothing. For quite a while, especially if the kappa didn't show up until later at night.

After walking for some while more, they came upon near the riverbank. Some well-furrowed land wasn't too far off from the road beside the river, with some scattered buildings even farther out past the acres and acres of farmland.

"You know, this would be a rather good place to attack someone, if they were alone. No one to really see what's going on, and if anyone ever screamed, they wouldn't be heard. Not until it was too late, at any rate."

Yeah, Prince. Way to make the situation seem bleaker than it should really be.

"At least this seems like a prime place for them to come."

Good save.

buh buh hiii! Sorry, I had to wait for lunch time! kishinegg February 23 2011, 04:55:31 UTC
And it actually, really was a prime place for these kishin eggs to come. This one, in fact, had been watching them for a while from under the water, waiting for them to come closer, closer...

Oh, but which one first? Two was such a nice number, eating one as it drowned the other...

It was even better that they seemed distracted.

The 'kappa' had grey, slimey scales that hung off its limbs, and matted hair floating around its head like seaweed. Unlike the real kappa, however, it didn't have the bald plate or the beak-like nose. Instead, it had talons and very, very long fangs.

It really was rather pleasant to work alongside someone whom could go with the flow like you could. Or at least wouldn't shoot you incredulous looks every time you opened your mouth. Spitfire was rather sure if his partner had been anyone else, he'd have gotten a response somewhere along the lines of an exasperated stare or perhaps physical violence of some sort. However, it seemed that Prince suited him as a partner much better than he had thought the young man would.

Bleak setting descriptions aside, Spitfire cast his gaze around their surroundings, taking subtle care to keep himself close to Prince. It certainly was an isolated area and Prince had brought up several good points. His gaze drifted away from the water to focus on the man at his side, offering a light smile.

"We'll have to hope we get lucky. Or unlucky, depending on how you view it."

He gave Spitfire a grin, knowing that the man knew about his own ability. It wasn't as if he had hidden it from the residents of Death City, and he really DID get lucky in most anything and everything. Right now, he was just wishing that he could come across a Kappa soon enough and beat that bastard's ass into the ground. Or at least char him with Spitfire-dàgē in his weapon form, because he always loved to see the fire dance as he moved him about gracefully.

"I think that getting lucky is just right up my alley, dàgē. I know we'd be lucky if we came across it sooner rather than later, since we'd have the advantage of coming in fresh instead of tired and lethargic."

This was why he liked being partnered up with Spitfire-dàgē, because while he might seem like he's taking it lightly, deep down he knows that he's taking it very, very seriously. Just the words he chose are proof of that.

"And since luck's my ability, I think we should come out of this relatively fine."

The kishin egg was getting hungry, and yet these two were still talking instead of coming to it. It growled to itself, and slowly closed upon the bank, keeping to the dark, murky water as it went.

If they would not come to it, it would come to them. When it reached the bank, it braced itself on the riverside rocks, and in one explosive jump burst out of the water. It reached for Prince's ankle and yanked, clearly intending to drag the boy into the river with it.

"Soul!" it screamed.

That did it, that completely threw Prince out of the calm, and was already cursing up a storm as soon as he felt the thing grabbing his ankle, and cursed even more loudly as it screamed 'soul!' like that. He reached out and grabbed onto Spitfire as he felt like he was losing his balance with that yank the thing gave him.

"Dàgē!"

It was all he could say, as he next tried to kick at the bastard that had gotten a hold of him, and that's when he saw what was aiming at: the Kappa. The next thing that escaped out of Prince's lips probably wouldn't have been appropriate due to the cussing, but was probably a rather forgivable act, considering the situation.

"Ugh, I can't believe that this fucking ugly bastard's even trying to get me down there with him!"

The touch to his wrist wasn't what surprised Spitfire, nor was the sudden, convenient arrival of their target. Certainly he'd been half expecting something to happen soon, though perhaps not so immediately. Still, with Prince's Luck ability, he'd been sure that they wouldn't be waiting very long for something to come along.

What he hadn't been expecting was the sudden burst of... inappropriate language from Prince's mouth. While Spitfire was far from offended, considering the environment he'd grown up in, hearing Prince saying words like that was a shock. Despite the situation, the sound of Prince erupting into swears was enough to invoke a sharp laughter from Spitfire's mouth even as he quickly changed to his weapon shape.

Hopefully, his flame would be of some help even in this damp situation.

Why was the man laughing? Where did the food go? It was supposed to have TWO souls today, TWO! It began to bristle in distress that its target had gone, and clutched convulsively at Prince's ankle with surprising strength considering its thin wrists.

"HUNGRY" it screamed insistently, yanking at the smaller one, yanking to the water. One had already escaped, but this one was going to be its food if it had anything to say about it.

Dàgē, WTF!? Why was he laughing? He'd have to speak with him after beating the shit out of this asshole that had managed to bring him down, even more so now that Dàgē had changed into a weapon and thus, lost his leverage, landing a little hard on the ground. This time, he let off a torrent of swear words in Chinese that not even Dàgē could understand.

He wanted this thing OFF him, and when he saw how the thing was holding onto him, he did momentarily wonder how in hell he was so strong while looking so weak. This reminded him Kenshin back in Second Life - while the other demons in that forest were gigantic beings that he had managed to kill, Kenshin, their lord, looked like a human and seemed weaker by comparison. Boy was he wrong on that assumption.

Now he was going to begrudgingly treat this bastard to the same amount of respect, strength-wise, and not underestimate it, but that did not mean that he would simply let him have his way.

"THEN STAY HUNGRY AND DIE!!!"

It was all he could manage to yell as he was feeling the now-strong resonation between his Dàgē and himself. He waved the rapier, seeing how the blade went white-hot; with that he took the chance to thrust the blade deep into the Kappa, using the heat to drive it in as far as he could, and taking it out just as fast, repeating the motion several more times.
