Germany himself had woken up earlier than usual that day, the sun having been a nuisance and shining brightly before its proper time and disturbing his sleep. All his senses were against sleeping when it was bright, however, so he'd quietly gotten off the bed, made a breakfast of potatoes and gravy, packed the food, and made for the park.

He hadn't expected his brother to already be waiting, though -- Preussen was an early riser by nature, as well were all Germans, but Germany had woken up earlier than usual, himself.

"Guten Morgen," he greeted, handing over their (rather large) shared breakfast.

Prussia had his hands on his hips, turning to face West. He cackled almost like a rooster that crows at the crack of dawn. The morning could not wait forever! Luckily, West was an early riser like him. IT WAS THEIR BLOOD THAT MADE THEM THIS WAY!

"WEST!!, "he yelled, charged up for the day. "I was expecting you!"

His brother was loud as usual, but Germany couldn't help but share in the enthusiasm. It was always a good feeling, to train. (And applying the lesson in battle, but that was for another day.) It just so happened that he was more quiet about it. "Yes, of course. I was expecting you to expect me."

"As I was expecting you to be expecting me to expect you!" Or something like that. He got a bit confused there. Prussia did a few morning stretches, energetic on this clear morning. After doing nothing for a while, it would be a welcome.

"So, are ya ready, West? Can you handle it?"

"Then..." No, Preussen was a skilled fighter, even if he was not very good with technology. He gestured at a tree, and because Preussen could probably not see him gesture, said out loud: "That tree with the gnarled branches. You may try shooting it."

"Okay! That's easy!" He pointed his gun towards the tree, closing an eye to aim. This was not a particularly hard target, afterall. As he placed his finger on the trigger to pull, the gun suddenly...got...a lot heavier....

REALLY heavy...

"Shit...!"

Why was his muzzle dropping?! He had just been aimed at the tree a moment earlier--!

"Brother!" he called warningly. If his trigger was pulled and he fired a shot, the result might hit his brother instead.

And it nearly did! It actually grazed his foot with a bang (but no serious damage besides a scuffle with his shoe) and caused Prussia to fall backward, the gun toppling on top of his stomach, nearly crushing him with the enormous weight.

Sob.

West. No more chocolate for you.

"I apologize!" he said hastily, struggling to become light again. This was so strange.

"No more streusel, West! No more!" If he wasn't the awesome country he was, he'd be crying right about now. Those definitely weren't tears, what are you talking about.

Oh yes, it was just raining. That was definitely it. The last time he'd seen Preussen shed tears was when his bunny died or something.

"I-is your foot well?" he asked with some despair. "Wait, I shall change again."

"I..I guess we can try again..!" He didn't want to admit to West that he really didn't want to but..."My foot's fine! I've had worse..!"

Like when his cute, adorable, best friend died...

Germany resisted the great urge to smack his brother upside the head at being so lecherous to his ally, then thought better of it. Preussen was damaged, after all.

"He doesn't? But isn't that detrimental to your resonation?"

"That's what I complain about! You can't slack with training! I've taught you that, right?" He stuck a forkful of food in his mouth! Angrily! "It's like something happened after that stupid storm! He hasn't been the same since."

He nodded in vehement agreement at what his brother was saying. Even if Preussen hadn't instilled in him the value of training and discipline, it was in his blood and in his nature. Anything else was strange and alien to him (which sometimes made him wonder why he was with Italien, of all countries).

Vaguely, he wondered if Preussen was going to break that fork, and hoped not.

"Was he out during the storm? Do you think the witches got to him?" he asked, a little anxious. "Britannien is a respectable country, and once a great empire on his own. It's strange to see him so unmotivated."

"Once a great empire?" He chewed on his delicious sausage, contemplating about that line. Wasn't England a great empire now? Perhaps it changed in West's time...

"Yeah, he was at work, I think, and didn't come back 'til that storm was over."
