The sounds of the festivities carried over from the streets below, along with the occasional murmur of the passing crowds of new people on tour, or wandering about on their own. Both, however, went practically unnoticed.
Everything was still and quiet in the apartment. Roy had come back home in Dojima's company, following just at his partner's shoulder as the man had made his way from the DOGS office. Nothing more had been said between them, outside of their exchange at the office, outside of what was necessary. Now the two of them were in the living room, smoking, counting off the seconds.
He remembered the other times he had been faced with this sort of silence well. There was nothing to be done about it, however, but sit and wait.
