But October 3, 2009 was not the end of that year's Oktoberfest. The day after was, with the recent extension to accommodate Tag der Deutschen Einheit, recent enough that Preußen, coming from seven decades past, would not know of it even when it was so centered around his person. Their reunification was important enough to Germany that the thought would not stop disturbing him even through the festivities, keeping him sober through the drinks.
He was standing by the kegs at that moment, nursing a cold glass of beer and trying to make a quick, mental inventory of everything the party had consumed throughout the day. Not an easy task given the beer swimming in his head...

"It... is excellent. Of course. We always know how to do it right, after all." A small hint of his old people's arrogance, mostly taken from Preußen.
At the back of his mind, he knew they should be doing better tomorrow, but the fact that it wasn't going to happen put a small frown on his face.

The words were out of his mouth before he could stop it, but it really was important to say it. Doing otherwise felt wrong. "Happy Unity Day."

It looked like Prussia was not going to leave it alone until he hears about this holiday. What could they be unifying? Businesses? Alcohol?

His face turned into something serious as he imagined what in the world he could be talking about. Were they really torn apart from each other? What? Why?

The conversation was becoming difficult, and Germany desperately wished that Preußen wouldn't pursue the topic further. It would be a pity to ruin his brother's mood with his insistence on tradition. Germany shouldn't have opened his big mouth.

This was when he had to pause for real. He thought about what Germany had said and suddenly there was a bit of fury in his eyes. Whether the anger rose from the drinking, he wasn't entirely sure but one thing for sure, he did not miss one important word.
"Who's 'they'?"

After all, West was West. He would do stupid things forever, and would do whatever he could from not telling his big brother just what the problem was and who might have caused it.
"If you don't tell me, I will find it in a book anyway. Finding a wall like that to where we celebrate an entire day for it...shouldn't be that hard."

But this was Preußen, and Germany could not deny his brother for very long. Maybe he could give him a watered down version...
"It's..." he started, voice strained. "After we lost the world war and you were abolished, the Allied decided to help us recover. But, however, Russland did not agree with their methods and so decided to cut away. You... were taken from me, while what remained continued to be occupied by Amerika, Britannien and Frankreich. A wall was put up in 1961 around what had then become West Berlin, which separated us for a while, until its fall and our reunification in 1990. And that is Unity Day."
