Noa hadn't suffered from this sort of throbbing, all-encompassing pain since his days back home in Calm, he thought as he dragged himself to the clinic. Crossing his arms across his upper body, he realized that, aside from receiving the periodic Healing Shard treatments, he almost forgot about his health condition. Since arriving in Neotopia and undergoing its hospitals' finest treatment, he never felt so light and free to do whatever physical activity he wanted.

But he wasn't in Neotopia anywhere. He was in Death City, returned from a large, organized mission -- his first, no less. The Shard Casting powers that sustained him didn't exist in this world, and the aches and pains that followed the running, hiding, and fighting he did with France and Spain to rescue Jeanne gave him a crash course in remembering who he was before everything happened -- a sick, weakly creature. He hated it, but his condition couldn't be helped. He needed medical assistance. Hobbling through the clinic entrance, he hoped someone could see to him sooner than later. Considering the mission, there were likely to be many other patients as well.

Kuroro had been pretty banged about from the mission, as expected. Kurapika had also taken cared of most of them, also as expected. Kuroro didn't really have a purpose for being in the clinic aside from seeing if his partnered needed him, as the meister to one of the few weapons who could heal people around. He was a little worn out from the fight, but nothing significant that would stop him from being benevolent.

It was on his way in when Kuroro, chewing on a piece of chocolate hanging from his mouth, noticed the boy hobbling into the clinic. It wasn't really his business -- Kuroro was more interested to see how much pain the kid was in -- but the kid was in the way.

"You need help, kid?" he asked after a brief struggle with chewing the chocolate block furiously and swallowing it. His left hand had the rest of the chocolate bar from it, and on the right was a mug of coffee.

Noa lifted his head to look where that voice originated. "Do you work here?" he asked, desperately perhaps. Granted, this person was snacking on chocolate and a hot drink. If there was any chance he was hospital staff though, Noa could use the help. He clutched his side in an attempt to cancel out the pain with applied pressure. It didn't help very much. "I... I need to see a doctor," he said. Being seen in his weak, pained condition made him self-conscious. He couldn't help that sentiment even though his health was more important than his pride.

Whoa, looked like the kid was really in some sort of trouble. Kuroro couldn't see any visible injuries on him that could be potentially lethal, but then again, other people were often less tolerant of pain. The squeezing of his side could mean a broken rib or two.

"I sort of do. Here." He put the chocolate bar and coffee aside and, because trying to help the kid hobble along would waste both their time, Kuroro just picked him up.

"Kurapika," he called out in an even voice as he strode into the clinic proper with his load. "Patient for you."

He'd thought that he'd made it pretty clear through their resonance yesterday and his awkward avoidance of Kuroro in general that he was feeling too uncomfortable with the notion of having the other man around, and so he looked up from his mechanical cutting and folding of gauze pads with a frown, mostly disapproving and wary at first, which turned into concern quickly enough when he saw the boy Kuroro was carrying in his arms.

"Set him down here," he called just as evenly, as he walked over to one of the empty beds--just a tinge of discomfort coloring his tone--but he was already looking Noa over and trying to decide what to do, if he needed to call one of the other medics over. Saying that he had a "patient", like he was a doctor, wasn't exactly accurate, after all.

"What happened to you?" he asked - couldn't see blood or any external injuries, and the way the boy was doubled up...

"Wa-wait! A wheelchair is fine," Noa said as he was hoisted by the other guy and carried into the clinic. To his credit, he did take swift action when the teen said he needed a doctor. He didn't want to accept he needed medical assistance that badly, but at the same time he knew it would be foolish not to be seen.

He felt himself lowered onto a clinic bed. It wasn't much, but not having to move -- even doing a simple, physical task like walking -- relieved some of the stress on his body. Trying to move as little as possible to spare his body extra strain, he turned his head to face Kurapika. "I wasn't injured during the mission. It's the illness I was born with. The fighting and general stress of the rescue mission triggered it, and--" He hissed through his teeth and crossed his arms over his upper torso. "--that's causing the pain," he finished, inhaling and attempting to maintain a semblance of composure. He was sure he could trust the medical personnel in Death City to help him the best they could, but he wasn't sure what they would do in place of the Healing Shard treatments he received back in Neotopia.

Kuroro grinned at Kurapika, aware that his presence there was both a relief and an annoyance, and that the warring feelings was annoying Kurapika even more. Kuroro didn't even have to do anything but show up...

"What kind of illness is it," he asked curiously, but let Kurapika ask everything else that needed to be asked. Kuroro wasn't there to play doctor, only the doctor's tool at most.

Noa propped himself up with one arm and righted himself into a sitting position to converse with the other two closer to their eye level. "It's a musculoskeletal condition that weakens my body more quickly than a healthy person's. A day's worth of physical activity amounts to about a year to my body. I have been wearing a spinal brace for support for as long as I can remember, but prior to my arrival in Death City I was being treated regularly with Healing Shards," he explained. "The residual effects of the Healing Shards sustained me until after the mission in Michigan. I must have overexerted myself during that mission, which I'd assume is why my illness is acting up so badly now."

He resisted a sudden urge to stick his tongue out at Kuroro, as it would be unseemly to be carrying on like normal in front of someone who was obviously hurt and in need of medical attention--but the mention of an illness was enough to make him forget about Kuroro's cheek for the meantime, at least. He hadn't considered if his ability worked for diseases, and was now less confident of his chances of helping the teen. Perhaps, if the illness had symptoms that he could do something about...

"I'm not sure if I'll be able to heal something like this," he said slowly. "If there's physical damage, maybe..."

Now wasn't really the time to hesitate, was it? Kuroro arched an eyebrow at Kurapika and gave him what he hoped was an encouraging look. Now was a good time to experience something new on the medical field, right? And the kid was in pain, sure, but it probably wasn't hopeless or the BREW wouldn't have brought him there.

"If we can't heal the illness itself, we can at least heal the damage it causes and therefore get rid of the symptoms that cause the pain, maybe," he prompted, methodical as always. Or they could stuff the kid with pain killers... Should work with the immediate complaints.

Kuroro certainly wasn't a doctor and probably wouldn't be able to stand in as one.

Kurapika nodded, now a bit more decided than before but still uncertain as to their chances of actually helping the younger man. What if he made it worse? He looked up and around at the clinic, to see if Winry or Watson were free, but the other medics were all busy with their own patients.

"I'm Kurapika, by the way," he said quietly, turning his attention back to the task at hand and sliding a hand under the boy's shoulders to help push him up to a sitting position if needed. "This is Kuroro. Can you sit up? I'm going to change to my weapon form and have Kuroro wind me around your torso."

Noa nodded his head, both in acknowledgment of being introduced to the other two properly and and affirmation that he could do what Kurapika asked. he was already sitting up, but he was slouching due to the pain. He straightened his posture. "Managing the pain would be enough. As far as I know, there isn't a cure for what I have," he said. And the fact was one he learned to live with early on. As long as the aches were under control and he could manage day-to-day activities, that was all he needed.

If all Noa needed was something to help with the pain, then he'd be popping painkillers everyday, and that wasn't a pleasant way to live. Kurapika realized that he did want to help, and was hoping quite fervently that his healing ability would work in this case. Even his earlier discomfort with Kuroro had been mostly forgotten, and he transformed into his weapon form readily enough the moment he was sure that the boy could sit up on his own without support.

Kuroro gave Noa a good look over as he took Kurapika in his hands, stretching the chain and absently willing it to grow longer. They couldn't give a cure, but healing the symptoms themselves should be easy enough, provided that Kuroro and Kurapika actually found where they should be healing.

He reached over and deftly wrapped Kurapika's chains twice around the boy's torso, carefully making sure that it was twice all around before focusing his wavelength to their connection. "It might take a while, but tell us when it does get better."

Funny. What a benevolent day he was having.

He watched as Kurapika transformed into his Weapon form. Looking at him as a chain connected to some type of blade, Noa wondered how it would work. Being tied with it would constrict him, if anything. He kept this to himself as Kuroro wrapped it around his upper body. Watching it grow longer out of nowhere, he wondered if the chain had a set length. He nodded in affirmation. "What should I be feeling to know it's working?" he asked.

Having to synchronize their soul wavelengths should make him feel uneasy, as much as any close contact with Kuroro while he was still feeling uncomfortable about future Mukuro's note ("He is totally your type," the note had read, like some kind of demented fortune cookie prediction about his love life--) should make him feel uneasy, but he could push it aside at the moment and concentrate on healing the body part he was wrapped around. Kurapika didn't exactly know which part he was supposed to be targeting, but if it was general stress, then he should ideally be focusing on the muscles and the bones.

He left it up to Kuroro to answer Noa's question, because not having a specific body part to target was making it a bit difficult for him to be as effective as he normally would be.
