Time: October 1
Description: It's time for Mission 041, operation rescue the kidnappees and kill some witches while we're in there.

It was a little before dawn that the mission-goers were ushered into Shibusen's Death Room and into the mirror prepared there for the occasion. There was a general somber atmosphere that pervaded the area, apart from a few people, and the group was eventually led to the other side, stepping into the mirror one by one.

Michigan was little better than the strange Death Room, and the guests were deposited just inside a decently-forested area near their quarry. Dark and cold -- far, far colder than Nevada, especially this time of the day -- and it seemed that the area in particular hadn't seen happier days in a while. The HEX facility was in the middle of what appeared to be a small town, wrecked and burned to the ground not so long ago (but longer, certainly, than the guests had been at Death City). Ash and the charred remains of the various structures that had stood there before lay in dirty rubble -- it marked a striking contrast to the almost immaculate appearance of the facility, its master being of a particularly neat nature.

The facility itself was a small but sprawling structure of plain architecture, all rigid lines and right angles broken only by erratic spikes set up here and there right through the walls. It was far away enough for the Shibusen encampment to remain a safe distance from the fighting, but near enough not to have to travel far.

On the other hand, the encampment was sparsely equipped with some dark tents and the necessary equipment -- the weapons promised to the unpartnered -- ready. Plain weapons, but undoubtedly effective. There were bundles in black bags sitting to the edge of the encampment; newly recovered bodies, it seemed.

The plan of attack was simple: The facility had four entrances for all four wings, and the mission-goers were divided accordingly. They were to take their place to stalk the entrances, and at a certain signal, Shibusen's technicians would emerge into the front and around the facility to cause disturbance. Ideally, it should attract majority of the laboratory's guards and fighters outside, allowing the guests to rush in and scour the facility from top to bottom.

All the meisters and unpartnered individuals had earpieces that connected them to Azusa in the encampment -- she would give them directions around the base where applicable, to minimize their getting lost. They would be led to the victims and the weakest areas of the building best used for blowing it up. Guests were advised to return to the encampment upon securing some of the victims.

Oh, and the guests have probably noticed it by now: Like in any place outside of Death City and Shibusen's other bases, Michigan was also covered in a vague tint of madness. It itched at the back of their minds, not strong enough to particularly influence or bring back any of their abilities, but enough to be bothersome to those who were sensitive.

Inside the facility, the kidnapping victims themselves were not faring any better than they had a week ago. Their attempt to escape had not been taken kindly, and they were treated more sparsely than before. They had also been separated into individual cells, to dissuade any future attempts. Golem guards, all of them seven feet tall, imposing, and deadly quiet, paced in front of the cells with uncanny consistency in their steps. Some of them were still made of sand, but majority of them were made of rocks, now. Michigan was friendlier for it.

All this was disturbed when the alarms inside the facility started up, a great, piercing din everywhere, the lights shutting down to grow dim and red. It was the same as when they had tried to escape, only... did someone do it again?
