The first clinically assessed the damage, what had to be tended to first, what would take the longest to heal, and even what sort of weapons had inflicted the wounds to begin with. In seconds he knew exactly how to go about putting Spirit back together, and wasn't actively concerned for his senpai's life, even though he was aware of some faint emotion he could only call dissatisfaction that he had been so badly wounded in the first place.
The other half of his mind was just gleefully spinning over itself that senpai was back on his table again. His body had changed a lot in the years since they were partners living together at Shibusen, and examining it now came with a sharp feeling of nostalgia. He was filled with the same tightly wound anticipation that came with any opportunity to dismember, and it was only slightly dampened by the fact that he had already decided he was going to put senpai back together, not take him apart.
Still, if was stable toward the end of the procedure Stein didn't think senpai was going to notice a few extra sets of stitches.
Stein was taking care of the wound on Spirit's neck when the man spoke up, clearly still somewhat delirious, or simply on the verge of regaining consciousness. "Ah," Stein commented mildly while sewing closed the wound, fingers moving almost too fast to see. "Even at a time like this, senpai's still fixated on women."

It was strange to have a body that was both so used to the hospital table under a certain doctor's hands (however unknowing past operations were) but at the same time so terrified of it. Logically speaking, there was really nothing to be scared of. Sure Stein sometimes switched his toes around and at one time, he had green eyes, but he always came out of these things whole, scratchless, and most importantly, unaware.
But, you know. There was something very freakish about your body parts either going missing or switching places overnight. Even if you don't notice it happened. Very, very logically, Spirit also knew that Stein was a good man, and that Stein wouldn't actually hurt him. Years and years of being partners left no doubt in his head, and sure Stein was sometimes kind of crazy and made weird crazy faces and did weirder crazier things like drive a screw through his head, but Spirit could trust him with his life and some extra.
Spirit froze for a moment as he pushed the instinct to scream like a girl aside and stared up at his meister with a wide eye, thoughts of Risa and Arisa for the moment completely forgotten in his panic.
And then, very calmly, his voice almost wooden (oh hey, his neck felt better. He could talk without straining it!), he said, "If you took anything, put it right back." A pause. "And I'm not fixated on women!"

Of course, coming from Stein it was really just unbearably creepy. Or at least that's what Stein's data suggested.
Stein didn't bother with much more than local anesthetic. He worked almost quickly enough that pain wasn't an issue, and anyway, supplies were running low and Spirit was very resilient. He began to deal with senpai's punctured lung, inserting a chest tube.

Chest tubes were not painless! Resilient didn't mean dumb to pain asjkdhsakjdas.
Despite all his other injuries, Spirit found it in himself to muster enough energy to squirm in protest, grabbing at Stein's shoulder with a bloody hand and wincing as he struggled to sit up a little, to breathe a little easier. But he didn't say a word, just closed his eye and let the doctor do his work, breathing short and quick. As long as he didn't pass out and let Stein take a few toes or his eyeball from him.

"You might enjoy this more if you went ahead and passed out."

He was tired, though. Getting banged up wasn’t the usual agenda in a fight when you were a weapon, not a meister, even if Spirit had gotten used to working on his own the past while. That did bring about a small curiosity. “Where did you go?” There was no accusation or disappointment in that, just some inquisitiveness. Spirit knew that Stein would have come to him if he could, and the man’s inability to show up worried him just a tiny bit.
For that matter - “How are the kids?” Referring to the four who just dropped back into their timeline.

Despite his generally invasive nature, Stein's touch is clinical and methodical as he repairs Spirit's body. "And as far as I know three of them are doing well. One seems to be missing. We believe BREW might have already taken her."
Reply
"One is... Which one?" Although he didn't particularly think Stein would know, since he didn't pay attention to that kind of thing usually enough. He didn't quite know how to feel about one of them disappearing so soon after getting back. Maybe it was just her time?
But he was being patched up. That was nice.
