[TIME FOR REAL ASSKICKING TIME I HOPE] [CLOSED] getyourgunson October 11 2010, 04:18:57 UTC
"We can't take it on without you turning into your Weapon form, idiot!" Date shouted back, and he would have wanted to said something else (and maybe just snap at Nataku with his very unhelpful commentary) if it wasn't for the fact that the kishin was now lunging towards them now after having recovered back from that punch. Everything was happening too fast - the samurai didn't have that much time to react and he was almost expecting the fangs and blades to sink into him when Justin came and saved their asses - for now, that was.

Gritting his teeth, the Meister growled as he followed the orders and forcibly pulled Dante out of immediate harm's way, turning around to face him after that as he gritted out at the Weapon. "Its either you turn into your Weapon form and work with me to get out of this, or we get mowed down by all these kishins and become their food. Even you know what's the better option here, right?" Normally Date really wasn't this forceful, but with things as they were (and with Dante proving to be just as obstinate and stubborn as Sanada Yukimura), there really wasn't much of an option at hand now.

[TIME FOR DANTE TO FINALLY BECOME USEFUL] [CLOSED] wittyreplyhere October 11 2010, 04:33:14 UTC
Dante was surprised when his blow seemed to have no effect on the kishin and instead seemed enrage it even further. Thankfully Justin jumped in to protect their sorry asses and bought them time. Then Date dragged him off and started yelling at him. He got that he was supposed to do something, but how the hell was he supposed to do anything her? Of course he didn't want to die, but there wasn't anything he could do.

Instead he yelled back. "What the fuck are you expecting me to do here? What is this about--"

He wasn't sure what happened next, one moment he was arguing with Date, the next he found he had no mouth to yell with. Dante felt the distinct impression of being a sword or more specifically his sword Rebellion. Where Dante once stood was now a claymore. He technically couldn't see since he had no eyes, but he somehow he knew where everything was as if was looking at them himself, no better than that since this view was now the full 360 degrees. He knew Date stood in front of him, Justin was grappling with a kishin off to the side and Nataku lying on the ground.

The hell!?

[TIME FOR SOME CHEERING FROM THE PEANUT GALLERY] [CLOSED] soulparadox October 11 2010, 13:37:50 UTC
The Kishin egg continued snapping and spitting at Justin as it continued to try to twist free, trying to find any way to dig its claws deep into the Deathscythe. Now focusing all of its anger that originally had been directed toward Dante onto him. It seemed like the screaming which it continued to do, possibly as a means to confuse or deafen the Technician it was grappling with, helped to spur on the other three that were quickly rushing in from the front. Turning their attention upon the other three rather than going to help the other Kishin egg. Simply too focused on their own hunger and the wish for less of a fight than anything else.

Nataku, in turn, looked up from his vantage point to all the fighting and the soon to be fight. "Congratulations on finding your weapon form, Dante." His tone remained unbothered and calm despite the circumstances. Only because he still did not understand what fear was in terms of caring about his own life or what would happen to him. It also seemed to the prone Weapon that nothing would come from any sort of panicking. Save arguments if Date and Dante's antics. "It also occurs to me that you three would be much better off if you left me as I am."

The three continued their rush toward the group even as Nataku stared at them apathetically. It would not be too long before they descended upon them as well. The idea of a pack of wolves came to mind, but they were far more rabid and starving for that sort of analogy. Still, more could be heard coming in the same direction of the three. Hidden off in the darkness, but hearing the prospect of a meal was enough to drag them toward the fray as well.

[TIME FOR REALLY DIRTY TACTICS] [CLOSED] guillotineofgod October 11 2010, 14:36:30 UTC
Justin continued to wrestle with the beast until he was sure the Red One was free, after which he abruptly released its left arm and quickly swayed to avoid the slashing claw. The infernal shrieking was irritating though, and the foreign sound disrupted his concentration momentarily, so that when it swiped down it just lightly cut his cheek. In turn, with the Kishin Egg stumbling off-balance from the suddenly generated momentum, he thrust his armblade upward against the opposing downward force to decapitate the inhuman aggressor.

Simultaneous to turning around, he heard Nataku's congratulatory announcement. It was fortunate; maybe the Guests could proceed in helping themselves a little. He, too, could hear more enemies approaching still and there wasn't the time to deal with them singularly anymore. He could do something about them, but he'd need time to prepare for it.

"Blue and Red! Hold them off for a few seconds! I will guard Nataku!" he ordered loudly. They wouldn't be able to handle three at once, though; his blade shrank slightly before launching from his arm powerfully, chain trailing shrilly as it lanced between the legs and lower abdomen of the lead Kishin Egg, crippling its movement and quite possibly robbing it of its once-manhood in the process. Adding yet another injury to both insult and injury, he whipped the chain across to send the violated beast flying into the second one on its right, tripping it up.

That left the one on their right for the two Guests, to be followed by the left once it could regain its feet. The lead one wasn't going anywhere anytime soon, even if it wasn't quite dead. Death may have been preferable. The blade was torn from the bloody mess and the chain retracted, returning it to Justin as he then took an odd pose, with his head bowed and eyes closed. The oncoming Kishin Egg sprang forwards like a crazed animal, attempting to crush the Weapon and Meister under its weight.

[TIME FOR TL;DR!] [CLOSED] getyourgunson October 11 2010, 14:53:55 UTC
The red glow from Dante's abrupt transformation took Date by surprise as well, and the samurai was just about to let go in surprise when he felt the hard sensation of steel in his palm. Date looked down as the glow flared and shone before fading, and suddenly instead of the Weapon in his human form was the Weapon in his other form - a large sword quite unlike anything he had ever seen before, with a strange crossguard that reminded him vaguely of Oda Nobunaga.

Date broke into a small grin at Nataku's words and despite the situation, looking very much more fired up as he grabbed the Weapon without another wasted second. The resonation was nothing like what he had with Genesis - it was almost unbearable, but just tolerable enough for Date to keep his hold on and not drop the Weapon. Looks like Dante wasn't going to be that all agreeable just yet, but at least now things were getting somewhere.

Between Nataku's deadpan commentary and Justin's barking orders, the Meister only kept grinning, feeling much more confident now that he had a Weapon with him. Now that he had a Weapon to fight now, he felt very much at the ready to deal some serious damage for all the trouble these kishins had caused in the last few minutes.

"Alright, I got it," he replied to Justin as he tightened his hold on Dante, feeling the thrill of battle starting to surge through his veins as he lunged right towards the nearest Kishin that was after them, already brining out the giant claymore to slash in a wide arc against the beast to deal the first strike. "You ready for this, Dante? Let's party!"

[TIME FOR DATE TO USE THE SWORDMASTER STYLE] [CLOSED] wittyreplyhere October 11 2010, 21:36:51 UTC
Dante didn't know jack about this resonation thing so had no idea of Date's discomfort. All he knew was that he had suddenly turned into his freaking sword. Since when could he do that? But the theatrics could wait till later, when he was actually capable of kicking up a fuss. For now he'd go along with this as best as he could anyway. He wasn't aware of it, but that decision had caused their resonation to increase.

He noticed that his form wasn't that of what he remembered Rebellion to be like. In fact this was the form it had before Vergil saw fit to impale him with his own sword. It was right after it had changed form that he had been able to use his Devil Trigger. Considering that he couldn't use it in this form did this mean that someone else could? Dante could ponder this later, for now they had some asskicking to do.

Let's get this party started! Dante didn't know how well Date could wield a claymore, he had only seen him with those practice swords and they had none of the length or weight of Rebellion, he tried to send Date information on how to wield it (him?) and the various moves he had used once. He had no idea if he could even communicate with Date, but it was better than doing nothing and like hell was he just going to just sit back and do nothing.

Dante slashed right through the Kishin, tearing it nearly in half like it was made of paper. The Kishin fell screaming and writhing. It wasn't dead yet, but it wasn't going to get back up. That left just one which was now more wary of them after seeing what had happened to its comrade.

[TIME FOR SOME MORE COMMENTARY] [CLOSED] soulparadox October 13 2010, 02:52:40 UTC
"You three are doing much better than before." Nataku would say that he did not have the best vantage view of the battle as he did hear screaming of the Kishin eggs and the caught the sight of occasional red shade of their glowing, corrupt souls. "It seems like you two are resonating well. Should I congratulate once more?"

A beat. "It also occurs to me that neither of you are taking the option of abandoning me to get to safety." His head titled every so slightly in the mud to look around legs and the like to watch what was happening -- he had to know what it was that was going to kill him, as he was unsure if they could keep up the momentum of the fight. Still, he wondered if he would have to yell in order to get them to listen to him, but he rarely ever did so. He did not see the point, when it seemed like they were just ignoring him; he would just repeat what he was saying until they acknowledged it.

The halted Kishin seemed to finally decide on what it would do as well. It ran toward the meister and weapon, before trying to weave out of the way of any attack. Actually proving to be a lot faster than the ones that came before, and could slide just a bit out of the way of the blade at first. Sliding through the mud to help it literally slip past the two. Spurred on perhaps by the constant screaming of the one that had fallen before, and following screaming that seemed to be coming from the darkness.

As for the one that had fallen, it continued to flop and twist about on the ground. Trying to swing itself toward the two, to bite anything that it could. Still so hungry and furious and wishing to share the pain felt over any logic that it could no longer defend itself, that it could no longer do anything to get away properly.

[TIME FOR PRAYING FOR OUR LIVES] [CLOSED] guillotineofgod October 13 2010, 15:39:36 UTC
Despite his eyes being closed, Justin could still hear the approach of the still-mobile Kishin Egg. It could only be hoped that the other two could be able to intercept it in time, otherwise either he or Nataku were in serious trouble. Of course, if he couldn't complete preparations for his attack, they were all going to be dead anyway, so placing his hesitant trust in them seemed the only logical option for the time being. Nataku's supposed 'help' wasn't exactly positively contributing to his concentration either, though.

Nonetheless, he held his left arm straight forward as if grasping something invisible in mid-air and supported it with his right, before enunciating the words of a prayer:

✝Dear God of Death City, watch over everyone's safety...✝

The runaway had fumbled slightly in its difficulty with gaining traction for changing direction or otherwise launching an attack at the Death Scythe and noncombatant, but there were precious seconds left before it would be able to right itself and pounce. The enemy that was thrashing was succeeding in kicking up a whole lot of wet sand and light debris, but it was otherwise indiscriminate; its flailings were closer to that of death throes than any deliberate attack upon the ones that had wounded it.

At this moment, only the truly observant may have noted that the sounds of the third, crippled Kishin had given way to silence. It had previously lain at the very edge of vision, but amidst the chaos it had disappeared into the darkness. A long, dark tendril had seized it by the ankle and dragged it ominously into the shadows, marked only by a very quiet crunch that proceeded its subtle disappearance. The outline of a larger, blacker silhouette slowly began to materialize.

[TIME FOR KB TO REFRESH ON HER DMC3 MEMORY AGAIN] [CLOSED] getyourgunson October 13 2010, 16:31:34 UTC
The increase in resonation sent a rush of warmth and energy into Date, and the information that Dante sent to him only made things all the better. The samurai grinned as he tightened the hold he had on the claymore, not at all bothered with the fact that the Kishin had just evaded his attack - now with the new information in his head, he could only all too easily counter the attempted strike towards him and Dante.

Letting out a confident cry, the Meister brought out the claymore towards the front, holding it with both of his hands for extra balance and precision as he struck the kishin right head on with the Weapon, the blade plunging right through the beast. A loud cry came out from the Kishin when the attack hit, and Date grinned when the blow struck. That wasn't all though, and the Meister immediately moved while the beast was stuck and struggling, a surge of energy running up his arm as he jerked his sword arm with enough force to dislodge the Kishin from the blade. Before it could react though, the Meister was attacking once again, his arm moving at an almost impossible speed as he stabbed the Kishin endlessly with the tip and edge of the claymore he was holding, and the Kishin could only squeal and scream in pain as the blade continued to impale and plunge its body endlessly without remorse.

This all went on for a good minute before Date let the grin on his face widening as he finished the attack, ending the Million Stab move with a final decisive jab that sent the Kishin flying back and bleeding with multiple wounds across its now horribly mutilated body. "Breakdown!"

[TIME FOR SOME CHEESINESS AND MORE STUPID] [CLOSED] wittyreplyhere October 14 2010, 06:47:22 UTC
Dante was pleased with how well Date was picking this up. It was bad enough he couldn't really participate in this fight and take those things down himself and it really would have been the last straw if he had been lousy.

Breakdown! Dante echoed Date's words. He was especially pleased that Date had kept the line. That line made his move all the more cooler in his opinion.

He didn't realise it, but Dante was indiscriminately pouring all his energy into their resonation. So much that he was threatening to overwhelm Date unless he also increased his own output. This would put them in a risky position as they wouldn't be able to sustain it for very long. They needed to end this quickly. Unfortunately it didn't look like it would with the appearance of the large much larger Kishin.

Looks like they've finally decided to send their best.

[TIME FOR SOME SKEPTISM] [CLOSED] soulparadox October 15 2010, 00:38:31 UTC
Another splattering of blood through the darkness of the storm and glowing orb appeared from the once broken body of the Kishin egg. The other one that was thrashing about had finally ceased to do so, falling limp, and shifting into another red soul floating amongst those others that had been slain. There was silence for a time. No screaming or calling from other Kishin eggs far off.

Nataku had been watching as much as he could from his vantage point and noticed that one of their enemies was missing. His head gave a slight tilt -- messing his hair and face up a little more in the mud. These Kishin eggs were not smart enough to know that it should run to save itself when meeting a stronger enemy. Too obsessed with their hunger for such logic. Where...?

The praying of Justin had broken his own concentration just a bit. "Do you believe that we are going to die? Is that why you pray for us?" Nataku could see the shape that was slipping out from the darkness. Still lumbering toward them, still just a little too far off for a direct attack, but the tendrils had once more spread out toward them. The glowing granted from the souls did act like makeshift beacons at least. He watched the shadows move against the light. "You really needn't bother. I do not believe you should put your time and effort calling to a potentially fictional being."

Those tendrils lashed out to wrap around Date's ankles as it had to the Kishin egg of before, to knock him off balance. Perhaps, cause him to lose his Weapon, as well. The intent was to drag him back to where the Kishin was still heading toward them. Other shadow tendrils twisted into spears to lash out at the two of them at the same time as it tried to coil about the meister's legs. Cause the meal to bleed and not cause a great struggle for when the feasting actually began.

[TIME FOR A HIGHLY IRONIC PRAYER] [CLOSED] guillotineofgod October 15 2010, 15:32:42 UTC
It was fortunate for Nataku that the prayer required Justin's utmost concentration; it meant he could neither explain what he was doing nor kick him into silence so that he could complete it without distractions such as, you know, blasphemy. This was evidently one of those moments where the Death Scythe benefitted most from being incapable of hearing outside noises. He couldn't adjust his earphones now, though; he had to maintain his pose and resume praying.

✝Dear God of Death, I'm your missionary of peace......✝

The phenomenon was invisible to all of those present given the lack of Soul Perception, but Justin's soul wavelength was growing larger with each word uttered. The air surrounding him began to thrum and distort tangibly, kicking up wet sand amidst the sound of a slowly rising shrilling. This did nothing to dissuade the approaching Kishin Eggs, though. The situation was long past the point of intimidation; one way or another, one side was not going to leave this place except as consumed souls.

Even if the shrieking had abated, more Kishin Eggs lurked still. A number of them flitted beyond the reach of the larger one, slinking back and forth restlessly like scavenging hyenas. They were being cautious, but there was no doubt that the instant souls were torn from bodies that they would swarm forward to overcome whoever proved the victor. Even if the big one was focused on the Meister and Weapon for now, though, none would risk coming closer for fear of being devoured.

[TIME FOR MORE LAME COMBO STRINGS] [CLOSED] getyourgunson October 15 2010, 16:09:14 UTC
It was probably a good thing that Date was used enough to resonation by this point in time, or otherwise things with Dante would have quickly gotten hard. As it was now, the samurai only did well to channel his own energy into the resonation as well, doing his best to keep their wavelengths in sync and he was congratulated for his efforts with another rush of energy pouring into him. Looks like this was going to get pretty interesting, indeed.

Noticing the tendrils just in time, the Meister just managed to leap back in time before they could grab at him. Skidding as he landed, the samurai channelled another bout of energy from their resonation and through his sword arm, unleashing out in a shockwave as he swung the claymore in a fast but wide arc. The shockwave swept through the air, knocking the kishin back and Date instantly took his chance to deal the next strike.

"Hah!" he let out a shout as he boosted himself with a dash forward towards the beast without pause, skidding across the ground once again when he was close enough and thrusted the Weapon forward in the Stinger attack with enough force and velocity to skewer their opponent right through - if the attack hit, of course.

[TIME FOR ME TO RACK MY BRAINS FOR IDEAS] [CLOSED] wittyreplyhere October 16 2010, 02:49:00 UTC
He didn't know what the hell Justin was doing, and quite frankly he didn't care or notice what he was doing. There were other things that needed his attention more than some religious nutcase saying his last prayers.

By now Dante's contribution to this whole thing (other than you know, his actual body as a Weapon and his soul energy) was reduced to little more than little interjections every time a combo ended. Hopefully Date didn't mind, unlike Dante who did mind that sort of thing as evidenced with Agni and Rudra.

Date was doing remarkably well in imitating the Weapon's moves. So it was unfortunate that remarkably well was not quite good enough in this battle. The attack was a beat too slow and the Kishin just managed to avoid getting skewered. With a scream of rage it lunged at the duo.

[TIME FOR PESSIMISM] [CLOSED] soulparadox October 16 2010, 03:05:16 UTC
What? Nataku stared at Justin for a time, feeling at least the shift in the air around him. His head gave another slight tilt before righting itself. Perhaps, those potentially fictional beings were appearing before him to send their souls somewhere other than the stomachs of the Kishin eggs that had come to eat them.

Or perhaps, the exhaustion which had affected his entire body to the point of being immobilized had decided to give him hallucinations. Either way, he felt that he should alert Justin that the constant praying was not actually helping and the two who were protecting them required his actual assistance rather than the so-called spiritual assistance that the young priest was calling upon.

"You should cease praying." Even so, his tone did not change from the same monotone as before. "I do not see how it will help our current predicament if we are still going to die. Which is becoming increasingly a high probability with your lack of assistance."

As he finished his observation, the Kishin egg lunged at Dante and Date. The tendrils had been knocked back by the initial attack, but returned to turn once more into spears -- lashing out to launch themselves toward Date to skewer the other's limbs as the creature itself tried to knock the meister over with its weight. Mouth open full of teeth as it snapped at Date's face, claws poised to try to dig into flesh just as much as the tendrils of before tried to do.

[TIME FOR ME TO FINALLY TAG ALREADY] [CLOSED] guillotineofgod October 18 2010, 22:56:28 UTC
Justin opened his eyes slowly, a radiant glow now beginning to gleam from behind the blue irises. Power was pulsing and fluctuating in palpable waves, but the preparation wasn't completed just yet. Even so, it allowed him to idly survey the scene in front of him with what little presence of mind he could spare from his prayer. That larger Kishin Egg fighting Red and Blue seemed to be beyond their means; fortunately, it wouldn't be quite so difficult to manage in a few more seconds. They just needed to hold on a little longer.

✝I am a pillar of justice... a blade of faith...✝

Charging was almost complete. The next prayer was the trigger, and hopefully the others would have the sense to get down when it fired. Admittedly, it was hard to not notice it, but still. They didn't seem overly intelligent. Still, for a seemingly new and temporary partnership, they fought together well. The situation was actually quite convenient; if that behemoth weren't here, it would've been impossible to keep the large number of lesser creatures at bay long enough to take them all out in one strike. As it was now, they were clustered in one group as a perfect target.

Whether by chance or because even their stunted intellect could sense a climax coming to the fore, the pack of Kishin Eggs ceased their skulking and fanned out in a loose semi-circle behind the bigger beast. Claws and fangs were bared, and some were even now crouching low to prepare to lunge forward for the kill. Those closest to the center tentatively took a step forward or two, sizing up the large one as if expecting it to be its new target. The eyes of the rest narrowed on the Weapons and Meister, tense with readied action.
