Vergil nodded to noone in particular, but it was more of an expression of comprehension. He gazed curiously at the man seated beside Ahiru a moment longer, but the look was devoid of any implied threat, and it certainly lacked the piercing quality it possessed when he was sizing somebody up. The girl had only vaguely mentioned her partner the day before though, so he'd registered an idle curiosity. He glanced back to her.

Uncharacteristically, not that either of them knew him well enough to know it to be so, he shared a half-smile. "Of course, but are you sure?" He knew that if that were the case, he'd no doubt be back in his lunch break to swipe more. An amusing thought crossed his mind that seemed worth sharing: "You may want to set some kind of limit, otherwise I may be back in a couple of hours with a wheelbarrow." Glancing along the tables, he noticed then that the table between them held particularly larger amounts of chocolate chip than the other flavours.

"Though, you certainly came well-prepared." The notion didn't seem quite as ridiculous as it had only a couple of seconds prior, even if it was unreasonable.

Ahiru smiled back very brightly, eagerly nodding her head so the top lock that stuck straight up bobbed with her movement. "Yup! That's what they're here for!"

She never thought about putting limits on things. Somehow, it just didn't seem right to be saying each person could only take so much. Some people liked cookies more than others, or a certain kind more... she thought giving the freedom for people to choose would be the best. And it all ensured that they would have little, if anything, to bring back with them - like Fakir wanted.

"I wanted to be sure we'd have enough for everyone!" she chirped, gesturing to all of the tables.

"By all means," Fakir snorted, leaning back to regard Vergil, "take them all."

He said it with a slightly ironic tone, but he was completely serious. The sooner the sweets were gone, the better. If they ended up stuck with a bunch of leftovers, Fakir had no doubt that Ahiru would make herself sick on them. And it would be a shame to just throw them away after spending all night and a ridiculous amount of ingredients making them.

Vergil really had to smile a little, very much in spite of himself. Ahiru's cheerful nature was almost infectious, and her partner seemed pleasant enough even if he didn't speak much. It was something he could appreciate; he himself wasn't normally one to mince words. As it was, his initial conversation with Ahiru, in addition to being opportunistic, had been one of several attempts to become acquainted with others. He wasn't exactly a people person.

It was fortunate that he learned quickly, even if he was often rather thoughtful and a little over-analytical about even casual conversation. There was one such pause here as he considered what would be the 'nice' thing to say.

"Alright, then. I'll be sure to leave enough for others for the time being, then." He then added, "I'll come back a little later during my lunch break, maybe. If you have leftovers at the end of the day, I'd be more than glad to take plenty off your hands." He would totally stockpile if he could.

Ahiru could tell that Fakir was more than eager to get rid of the cookies, but that was understandable. Not only did he not care for them, but he'd spent an entire night in the kitchen with her baking dozen after dozen. She'd have to do something really nice to thank him after all of this was over with.

The redhead nodded back at Vergil, still sporting the same grin. "Sure! Come back whenever you would like to take them!"

And they still had boxes, as well, in case something bigger was required to take larger amounts. Ahiru was pretty certain that they wouldn't run out of those by the end of the day, much less the cookies, themselves.

This was very welcome news to Fakir, though he was a bit skeptical. Could anyone really want so many cookies at once? They would just go stale if they weren't eaten soon enough.

Still, he wasn't about to discourage Vergil from relieving him of dealing with the mass of sweets. It wasn't his concern what happened to them once they were gone. He just wanted them to be gone in the first place.

So he nodded his approval along with Ahiru. "That's fine."

Answer: yes, someone really could want so many cookies, particularly of the chocolate-laden variety. Vergil. No doubt in the days following he'd have an overflowing pile of them situated somewhere in his apartment, and it remained at question whether or not he would make himself as sick off of them as Fakir worried Ahiru might have. For the time being it was hardly a concern, though.

"Alright then." Satisfied with a solution that suited everybody, Vergil borrowed a bag and settled on bringing a variety of flavours back with him to his apartment, though the observant may notice he was a touch biased in favour of chocolate-chip. Once he was sure he'd filled the bag as much as possible with greatest efficiency, he tendered a mild smile of gratitude.

"Thank you. I better get going, otherwise I'll be late for work, but I'm sure to see you later." He was probably going to be late anyway, but it had been worth it.

Ahiru didn't mind at all. She was more than happy to see that people were taking to the cookie idea and that the finished product looked good enough that a number were being taken in bulk.

Her smile never lessened in the slightest as she waved one hand. "Okay! Have a good day at work and we'll definitely be here waiting later!"

Fakir, though he didn't bother to say anything in farewell as Ahiru had, spared Vergil a nod as he left.

So far, this person didn't seem like anyone bad. And Fakir had to be glad for the promise of cookies being taken off his hands.
