Despite her suspicions, Ran Fan had not come to the Casualty Communal in her guardian uniform. This didn't mean she hadn't prepared, though. She had carefully watched her surroundings on the way here but so far nothing was out of the ordinary. She was also carrying what looked like a large cloth bag, though this at least wasn't intended for warding off any attacks.

She made sure to examine the entrance to the building before slowly opening the door and cautiously walking inside. She wasn't familiar with this building, but this was supposedly where most of the others who had been brought here like her were staying. She'd never really had a reason to come until now.

It was fairly easy to spot where she needed to go, given that there were five tables stacked with various sweets. A slight bit of red coming to her cheeks, she walked toward them with as much confidence as she could in these clothes with a scowl. Ran Fan merely stopped at a table next to the one where they were sitting and looked at them.

As soon as she spotted the girl, Ahiru instantly bounced up from her chair, grinning happily from one ear to the other, her eyes shining brightly. "Hello! What's your name? Are you here for the cookies?"

She pointed between the tables as she listed them off. "There's oatmeal raisin over there, peanut butter right there, sugar cookies are over here, gingerbread next to those, and... chocolate chip cookies are right here with us! Please, take as many as you'd like!"

She was a bit taken aback by Ahiru's greeting. This girl was certainly enthusiastic about this... After a pause she gave a small nod and managed to answer one question. "Yes."

She followed her pointing with her eyes, taking a few seconds to size this up. The types weren't all that important to her, honestly. Finally, she glanced back at Ahiru suspiciously. "There is nothing you ask for in return?"

Suspicious glances pretty much went right over the redhead's head. Maybe she had grown impervious from dealing with Fakir. At any rate, she just kept on smiling. "Nope, nothing at all! I just hope you'll enjoy them! That's what they're here for!"

And, well, with a war and such going on, Death City isn't what Ahiru would call a cheerful place, by any stretch of the imagination. She'd hoped that free cookies would help bring some smiles and a more positive air about.

Unfortunately for her, it was quite hard to make this frown go away regardless of how she felt.

Ran Fan nodded, opening the large bag she had brought and holding it in one hand. She stared at the peanut butter cookies for a bit before turning her attention to the oatmeal raisin cookies, quite obviously looking in thought. She should probably take a variety, but estimating how much of each she could fit in this bag was a bit difficult with the different types and shapes before her. She turned toward the sugar cookies. Those would be especially problematic. Maybe she should have brought two bags...

It definitely didn't look like she was going to make a grab for any of the cookies just yet.

Ahiru watched her, tilting her head to the side slightly. Could she not decide what cookies she wanted, or...?

Oh! She was carrying some kind of bag that she must have intended to put the cookies in. But... that would probably be messy and break a lot of them, woulndn't it?

Scooting back, the redhead ducked under the table and pulled out one of the many boxes she and Fakir had used to transport the cookies. Standing up, she held it up to the young woman. "Would this work better? The cookies might get crushed if you put them in a bag."

Ran Fan blinked at her in mild surprise. It really wasn't that odd that they had some large boxes since they had to move the cookies as well, but she hadn't anticipated being offered one.

"Uhh... Y-yes."

Fakir had just been sitting back, watching the exchange. He couldn't be sure, as the dark-haired girl hadn't said much, but he thought he recognized her voice as one of the ones that had responded to his post about the cookies, earlier.

Well, in any case, he wasn't particularly concerned about her identity, as long as she wasn't out to cause trouble. And if she was willing to take a large quantity of the cookies, all the better. The faster the sweets disappeared, the better, as far as Fakir was concerned.

"Take it," he threw out mildly, before taking a sip of his coffee.

Ahiru paused briefly to boggle at the fact that Fakir actually said something instead of sitting there like a glaring statue. But then she eagerly turned back to the girl, holding the box out and giving it a slight bobbing motion with her hands.

"Yes, please do!"

Ran Fan looked at both of them as they spoke, her face getting a bit redder. She still wasn't used to talking people like this and she hadn't expected these people to be so, well, helpful. Still, she had her orders and it was supposed to get easier the more she did things like this, right?

She remained uncomfortably still for a moment before reaching out and taking the box, pursing her lips in embarrassment and lowering her head. After a few seconds, she replied quietly. "...Thank you."

Fakir wondered absently what the girl was blushing about, but didn't think much of it. She apparently wanted to take a lot of cookies, and that was very much to his benefit.

He sipped at his coffee and shrugged. "It's nothing."

"You're very welcome!" Ahiru burst with much more enthusiasm than her partner had shown, a bright grin on her features. This girl seemed nice. Kind of shy. And in a way, she kind of reminded Ahiru of Fakir a little bit.

"What's your name?" She asked the girl curiously. "I'm Ahiru!"

She was starting to regret ever deciding to come here, but reminded herself that there was free food involved in this. Fakir wasn't bothering her that much; she preferred to not be the center of attention. The girl, though, was a different story. She could only frown uncomfortably at Ahiru for a few moments. She needed to get used to introducing herself as well, though, didn't she?

"...Ran Fan," she finally replied with a bit of difficulty.

Fakir, as lacking in manners as ever, didn't bother to introduce himself. Nobody had asked his name, and he didn't feel any need to speak up. He did note the girl's name, though. It was unusual enough that he was fairly certain he'd remember it.

"Ran Fan!" the redhead chirped, bringing her hands together in front of her. "It's nice to meet you! Please, take as much of the cookies as you like and I hope you enjoy them!"

And while Fakir may not have noticed his lack of introduction, Ahiru did. With a slight glance at him, she gestured in his direction with one hand as she turned back to the dark-haired girl. "Oh, and this is my partner, Fakir!"

"Right," she said to her first statement, eying the mountains of cookies. She still found it a bit strange that they were making such a generous offer. Ran Fan certainly couldn't pass it up, but she would keep an eye on them for a bit just in case there was more to this than it appeared.

She looked back at them as Ahiru introduced Fakir, however. She opened her mouth to respond, but no noise came out. Finally, she merely nodded at him awkwardly. Perhaps she should just start collecting the sweets...
