[Closed] [Kuzunoha Detective Agency] [September 1] deadshallspeak August 31 2010, 05:04:12 UTC
There was nobody to tend to, meaning that the path was free for the time being. Once she'd started to hear word about once-forgotten strangers appearing suddenly in the camp, Naomi headed out of the clinic set up in the CWC and towards the Agency. If there was any truth in these rumors, she wanted to know - and if she wanted to know that, this seemed like a good place to start ( ... )

Raidou, in the meantime, was going over the paperwork that had just come in - supply lists, data on the last run-ins CWC members had had with Witches, bits and pieces from his info lines. The young man blinked at the sound of the knock, though, and set what he had been reading.

"Come in."

Naomi entered as told, taking a look at what Raidou was occupied with as she did. It looked like he was busy with something...maybe he might not know something after all, thought it wouldn't hurt to try. If he didn't know, now was as good as any time to find out.

"Have you heard the stories going around?" she asked. "They're saying two people have appeared in the camp. They're not invaders, but I haven't heard anything about who they are or why they're here yet."

"Ah, Naomi-san."

Raidou smiled, standing up to greet the other. And, in response to her query:

"...Yes, I have heard the news. I am afraid I know very little, though. China-dono has not approached me yet."

"Really? I wonder what's going on, then." Something had to be going on with those new people. If they had popped up all of a sudden, then they certainly wouldn't have been allowed to wander around freely unless people were sure they were trustworthy. The possibility that they were resisting seemed unlikely, since the rumors would have been more alarming if they had.

"They're probably with somebody in the camp," she said, as much to herself as to Raidou. "The threats to security would be too glaring for people not to keep an eye on them. So what would we do, finding such strange guests? That may be how they're being handled right now."

"Indeed. It is entirely possible that something is happening in Shibusen, as well."

Why else would China look so frantic, or why missives were being delivered at a faster rate than usual?

"...I can only hope that it is nothing too serious."

"Serious? Frankly, I'm not sure it's anything but." Unknown people, after the BREW had stopped functioning...there hadn't been anyone new in years, and there would have been word if the BREW had come to life again. The newcomers probably weren't witches, either. Which left--what? It seemed that they were something new, and in these times that pointed to more. The question was how much more.

The other part of what he'd said intrigued her, though. "In Shibusen? Why do you say that?"

"China-dono's reaction. There also appears to have been an official missive delivered between our two camps."

It was all conjecture until things were confirmed, but people like Raidou lived in the realm of conjectures at times like this.

"Is that so?" Naomi hadn't heard of that part until now, though that could be chalked up to the fact that she'd ventured out of the clinic less and less in the past months. "Could you describe how China was acting, if you've seen him?" She didn't bother with asking after the message; if Raidou hadn't mentioned it, he probably didn't know. Better to use their time on other leads.

"He was in a great hurry, and appeared to be rather excitable. That is odd for our leader."

China was usually unshakable, oft-unimpressed by whatever came their way. That was, at least, the impression that Raidou had of the country.

"Was he? That is strange, from what I know." Naomi didn't know China as well as some others did, but she had talked with him a few times before. While she couldn't tell exactly what could have earned that sort of reaction, Naomi knew that it wouldn't have come out of just anything. "Those people must be somewhere, and unless something's happened they're being watched...it's enough to upset China, if that's what his behavior was about, but you've seen him going somewhere. Is he attending to them, then, or is he having others do it?"

Again, danger didn't seem very probable since there would have been more alarm. So if they went on that, and continued to put the facts together...

"He is likely applying himself to the task personally. Our leader has always been the type to do things himself."

For better or for worse. Many in the community had learned to find ways to ease China's burden without making the country aware of it.

"So he's probably taking care of them now, or he's done so already. I doubt that those people are out walking around the camp right now." Probably not an option. She didn't doubt that their security wasn't perfect, but people had to know better than that. "It does make sense that the administration would take care of them for a while, no matter their reasons for being here...they may still be detained, then." She looked back at the door. "I don't know why they're here, but I can say that they're probably in the offices right now."

"Perhaps they are unaware of the reasons themselves."

The world of Death City and Shibusen had, after all and in many ways, proven itself to be extremely peculiar.

"Either way, we must be prepared.

Probably! Not exactly many left, oh Nataku. deadshallspeak September 21 2010, 22:32:37 UTC
"Unaware? Hm." To be landed in the middle of somewhere and not know why--there had been a lot of people like that, back when the BREW was still active. "If they are, I almost feel sorry for them. That's a poor state to be in these days. But you're right, we should be ready for anything. Just in case."

Where was Brock? She hadn't seen him for a while now. He wouldn't be too much use offensively, but it never hurt to keep him in mind.

Well, there is that! But what I actually meant was in the present timeline. ♥ justtubeit September 22 2010, 16:30:56 UTC
"We do what we must, after all."

Raidou looked up at the woman with a smile.

"...Is that all, Naomi-san? Perhaps you would like to join me for some tea?"
