The rumors that had been spreading like fire through Shibusen had finally been confirmed. Winry, Miranda, Kanda and Yuuri were alive. Alive, well and younger then they should be. It had been so hard sitting by and waiting for any news about these rumors, because even though ten years had passed- Ash had still remained impatient about information regarding his friends. Especially any friends that had been considered dead for so long.
He rubbed at his throat, sitting on, or really hanging off one of the chairs in the hallway. His mind racing with how's and whys. Names and faces long forgotten sprang up again; Sammy, Lucario...Celebi. All friends from his old world that had experienced this same thing. Suddenly showing up from another time completely unchanged.
"..."
He let out a silent sigh and sat up, leaning the chair back against the wall and kicking his feet idly. So many questions to ask, so many things to say. It was driving him crazy! After loosing Dawn, then Italy, Germany, Rise...so many- to have one of the people he considered almost family returned. He would wait though, because if the rumor turned out to be just that, he couldn't face the thought of losing his last smile.
Ran Fan was making her way down a corridor on her way back from delivering some reports about Kishin Eggs. It was tedious, dangerous, and not really what she wanted but anything that might lead her there was worth it.
And then there was the news that Winry and the others who had gone missing ten years ago had suddenly reappeared. She really wasn't sure what to make of it or how much it meant in the long run. This event did not seem related to anything that was currently going on the the war. Ran Fan had never really known Winry well enough to be excited, but she knew this would mean a lot to Ed. It would probably mean a lot to everyone else from her world, though, including those...
Well, it was too late for many things now. Still, she thought it might be a good idea to speak with her in the next few days should the chance arrive.
She was snapped out of her thoughts as she noticed a familiar figure sitting in a hallway perpendicular to her own. She quickly turned and made her way toward him, her typical small, troubled frown remaining on her face.
"You have returned."
[ooc: While thread-stalking, I saw he was at the CWC a few days before so I went with this if it's all right ^^;]
Ash blinked and glanced up at the familiar voice before offering her a short smile. He straightened up the chair with a soft click of the legs against the rock floor, but he didn't stand up yet.
A small nod to her question before he pointed at her and gestured vaguely around. The former trainer hadn't seen her for an hour or so, since he'd sat down in the chair earlier.
That was not good news. It looked like everything was going for another bad dip. He clicked his tongue in annoyance and stood up, adjusting his hat and tilted his head. Looking her up and down; after so long he had become rather protective of his partners. More so then he had even been for...well back then in what felt like another life.
He was looking for any signs that she had personally seen the eggs she'd reported.
He sighed and put a hand on her shoulder, trying to get her to glance back up at him. Whatever it meant, at least they could be somewhat prepared. They knew the kishins were active.
Ash pointed to his ear then gestured at Ran Fan. Ten years had not really made him that much more attentive to things that weren't happening right away. He still wanted to know what the heck was going on though.
She did look back at him but did not respond until he had finished his gesture.
"I do not think much has changed on their side recently," she replied with almost a shadow of disappointment in her tone. "Here, however... You heard about the people that were found, correct?"
At that he nodded earnestly, but looked wary. He didn't want to believe something like that but he knew that it was way too easy for it to be possible.
He had only heard about Winry and Miranda- the other two that were in CWC he hadn't learned the names while he'd been there.
Another head shake of disbelief before he looked with worry at Ran Fan. Wasn't...didn't Ling know Winry? Maybe she could help them out.
Ran Fan believed it by this point, though she wasn't quite certain if she was picking up on all of Ash's feelings on the matter.
"I am not sure if this will change anything. I suspect that Winry will want to... ask questions, however," she finished, and the expression on her face showed clearly enough how much she was not looking forward to these topics coming up again after all this time.
Yeah...that made sense. There was no way that they would be the only ones with any kind of questions. Her expression made him frown and he tightened his hold on her shoulder briefly. Whatever in Mew's name was going to happen from here out, he wasn't going to just step aside.
She glanced at his hand for a second before letting out a small sigh. Her expression softened a bit. "Yes, we will continue to move forward as always."
He gives her a smile and a thumbs up. Ash wasn't a quitter, and if he could help it he wouldn't let anyone else even hint at it. He knew Ran Fan would never stop trying, it was noe of the many things he liked about her.

"I was reporting the movements of some Kishin Eggs," she replied. "There seem to be stirrings above."
