Ah. The noise and sigh slipped out at about the same time in both his mind and mouth. He had halted suddenly, but he did not think that it was out of hesitation as it was simply sorting out his own thoughts. I wonder what sort of conversation that we will have this time. Clovis closed his eyes for a moment, feeling his shoulders raise slightly in amusement, before continuing as he was.

A prince and one who rules others should not falter or be afraid of any sort of consequences. That sort of lesson that he had picked up from his sister and brother. Clovis nodded slightly to himself, agreeing with his own thoughts. My confidence has been a little shaky lately, but I am still one of the representatives of Britannia. Euphie is doing a marvelous job, and I should do the same.

Even if it was simply lunch, he still remembered what it was that he had said to Genesis the last time -- that he would show a far better role than the one that he had before, when his announcement of everyone being Honorary Britannians went so poorly. Finally raising his hand, he lightly knocked on the door.

As the door opened, the mouthwatering smell of chicken and herbs (and a touch of lemon) came through. Genesis smiled, with a white apron over his black shirt and denim pants.

"Clovis. Glad to see you made it." He stepped aside, welcoming the prince in. "The chicken will still take a little while to cook, but it just means you'll be getting it straight from the oven."

Do all of them know how to cook? A hobby that he never actually pursued -- why cook if there were those present that could do so for him? However, he knew better than to voice something aloud, especially if it meant that he would not be able to eat such a meal. The smell alone was too promising. His hand did come to his mouth at the sight of the apron though, like it was some scandal. Hm.

"A prince should keep all of their appointments." Clovis returned his hand to what he was holding -- the red jacket that he promised. Without as may bells and whistles as former-former-former detective Adrian Monk's suit had, it was almost unfortunate, but he already gave reason as to why it was prudent. The gift itself was folded carefully and hid for the sake that it seemed strange and embarrassing to just have it under his arm or thrust it into the other's hand like some dead fish.

"I see. I am glad to hear such good news." A nice warm meal was always appreciated, after all. Clovis finally did not his head as he walked through into the apartment. Presentation is important. Hm. The question of how to give the gift -- again, the kindness done for him was one that required some finesse to the giving -- but it was already seen which meant. He let out a very soft sigh, before holding the jacket out to Genesis. "As promised, and I suppose it is almost payment for the meal."

Genesis had to chuckle as he saw Clovis eye his apron. Of course-- Clovis was a prince. He might have not seen a lot of everyday people wearing aprons like he did. Oh well.

When Clovis held out the jacket to him, Genesis couldn't help but smile warmly at such a pleasant surprise. "I didn't expect that you would be done with it so soon..." He unfolded it, revealing the well-made form. It was simple, even more simple than the red coat he wore as a SOLDIER, but it was beautiful in its simplicity. Elegant, even. Genesis loved it. It was perfect for cool nights.

"You shouldn't call it payment for the meal, Clovis. After all, it's more like a present from me to you." He folded the jacket neatly once more.

"It's beautiful. Thank you."

"I suppose that means that it truly is a surprise." Of course, it was not like he had anything else to occupy his time during the days. Sewing and painting were become all he did as he could only find his calm through such endeavors. Clovis resisted letting out a sigh at that thought, before smiling kindly in turn, instead.

"The meal is a present from..." The prince began to repeat what was said, before allowing the confusion to fade to another smile. "Then, I suppose that would almost mean that I should find another way to thank you. But to give thanks for a gift would be an endless cycle between us, and would eventually make the gifts given nothing but trinkets."

A pause, before nodding at the compliment on his work -- actually very happy and proud that it was received so well. Which became more obvious as he spoke, "Of course! Everything I make is meant to be beautiful and well-liked by those that are to wear or receive it."

"It is. It really is." He smiled. "You don't need to mind too much about returning whatever I give you, though. That's the beauty of giving presents, I guess. You simply accept them as they come. It makes them feel a little more precious, too."

He had to admit that the jacket was a great present to him. After all-- it was the first present he ever got from someone here in Shibusen. Meanwhile, the oven timer went off.

"Excuse me for a moment. I'll just prepare our meal."

"Yes, exactly that, Genesis." Clovis nodded once. Gifts were supposed to be precious and mean something -- that is why he put so much thought and time into thinking about what to get those around him. Even if it occasionally seemed like it was something thought on the spur of the moment. He liked the idea of how it would make them happy, as well. Something that he could share in, with his own bit of egotism that he was able to make them smile so.

"Of course." A slight tip of his head to show that he understood and it was fine for Genesis to tend to dinner. His hand once more came to his mouth, amused about the apron once more. Ah, I suppose I have seen chefs wear such when they bring -- brought -- out my meals, but it still. Just interesting and amusing. Clovis hummed once before beginning to flutter about the apartment to see if there were any personal touches from the soldier to be seen.

Personal touches in Genesis' apartment were very sparse. Actually-- perhaps the most personalized thing in the apartment were the library books scattered on a coffee table near a couch. Most of them were books on the system in Shibusen, but other than than, there were classical works-- fables and fiction that belonged in this world.

Meanwhile, Genesis had set the table with the chicken at the center. Bread rolls were in a basket, warmed up.

"Clovis."

Hm? Clovis picked up one of the classical works over any of the book. Flipping it open, he glossed over some of the words, but not really acknowledging what it was he was reading save it was some fable or other. His gaze dropped away from the pages to the other books. These along with all the other books?

It was interesting, but he wasn't quite sure what it meant yet in terms of relating it to Genesis. He did, however, set it back down when he heard his name.

"Prince Clovis." The automatic correction which he had been doing with everyone came out just as easily as any reply would. He brushed off his response instead to turn and smile, kindly. "Ah, I see. Lunch is done. How wonderful."

"I hope you enjoy it. After all, I'm not really a chef," Genesis chuckled, sitting down at one side of the small table.

"It'll be more than fine." Clovis took his own seat before unfolding a napkin to rest over his lap. "If it tastes as good as it smells, that will be more than enough to be satisfactory."

He cleared his throat softly, before going to remove his gloves. It would be improper to eat with them on, after all, but it was always just a little concerning -- even in front of England -- to actually be without them. A soft sniff as he slipped them off to fold them carefully out of the way. Everything was a process, like figuring out a painting, actually being silent the entire time.

It was only then, giving a slight nod to the gloves, that he served himself. With just a hint of a sigh.

Genesis chuckled as he cut a portion of the chicken for himself.

"I still hope it pleases you enough, though. I wouldn't like to displease a prince." He smiled, placing the meat on his place with a roll.

As Clovis removed his gloves, Genesis couldn't help but pay a little attention to the incredibly smooth, unmarred skin underneath them. A true prince-- absolutely immaculate. His eyes darted back to his food. It would be rude if he caught him staring.

"Say, Prince Clovis," saying the honorific felt wrong for Genesis. It was like calling Sephiroth 'General Sephiroth'. It was nothing but unnecessary bulk on his tongue. "Have you ever thought of dressing a little more casually?"

Once his own piece of chicken was set on his plate, he went about cutting it into tiny manageable bites. It would not be good to be seen anything but proper, even if it made for even more painstaking time spent with preparations. Clovis, unknowingly, made a few humming noises as he went along.

"Yes?" Finished with the cutting, he reached for the roll and set it down on his plate carefully as to not make any vulgar sound should it be dropped. "Dressing more casually?" He straightened a bit in his chair as he obviously had not thought of such a thing at all. Why should he?

"Why would I want to do something like that? A prince has a certain way that they must dress and appear at all times. It'd be troublesome to dress anything, but." Finally a piece was carefully stabbed with his fork before he took a bite. The rest of what he was going to say fell away. Delicious. It was just as good as the meal that he had with England. His hand came up to touch his mouth in mild surprise.

"It seems like you needn't be worried about your cooking at least."

My. Clovis was certainly the meticulous kind. Genesis could respect that. It was almost cute, even. He liked watching him. But of course, he continued to eat his own meal.

He would have answered Clovis' words on dressing casually, but it seemed that his cooking had surprised him.

"You like it?" He grinned.

"Yes. I've been more or less forced to eat food that has less than acceptable." Meaning that he actually had to cook something for himself on occasion, if he could not find something instant.

He resisted sighing, as he continued lightly. "That is why these sort of meals are always appreciated. I hope my sister also has someone who can cook for her. Something to ask, I suppose."

Another careful stabbing of the chicken. "And this is only an idle hobby of yours? How surprising."

"I see... hm. Well, I guess I should invite you and your sister over for more meals?" Genesis smiled.

"It's more like a hobby I picked up when I began training as a SOLDIER. It was always cheaper than eating out constantly or buying food at the cafeteria."
