[Works perfectly, don't worry! <3] loves_humanity July 13 2010, 03:06:58 UTC
Izaya slid into the ground floor on the handrail of the stairs, much like a little kid, grinning. He landed with ease, sidestepping the frogs aiming for his head, which were quite busy tailing him. A bit annoying, yes, but still exciting. The situation didn't seem grim enough yet, for him to get truly annoyed. Or worried. He'd noticed, however, after watching the rain from the balcony, that it seemed to be focused on certain places. Places were guests where located. Guests, in turn, that could probably fight the frogs off and keep them at bay.

The solution, clearly, was to simply remove himself from the line of fire and head for the areas where the frogs weren't raining quite so hard.

"Hey," he called, watching the man entering the building with keen amusement, "I think you're heading the wrong way~"

He managed enough good humor in his singsong, despite the fact that he did not enjoy the company. Company meant risk of exposing himself and his abilities more than he wanted to. Company meant a risk of being dragged into the show, rather than enjoying his spot as observer.

"Is there a right way?" he asked testily, though he paused just the same. If nothing else, there were as many frogs following the man who'd descended the stair rail as he'd left behind outside. Each option was looking equally irritating at the moment. There was always the possibility that the other had slightly more perspective on the situation from whatever upper floor he'd been on, though, and at the moment that was better than nothing. And marginally better than dodging around exploding amphibians in a staircase.

"For the observant," Izaya quipped easily, sidestepping more frogs as he raised his hands up playfully, "there's always a right way."

He slid his hand into his back pocket, because loathe as he was to show his skills, he was much more opposed to dying. He supposed he'd have to drag the inconvenient arrival along, as well.

"Shall we, then?"

Blade extended, and red eyes deadly, Izaya still managed to make it sound like he was merely inviting the man out for a stroll.

Sano eyed the offending frogs again, landing a faintly exasperated axe kick on one that ventured too close and curling his lip in distaste. He was disinclined to admit that the assistance could be useful, but he didn't doubt that they wouldn't want to be here for much longer.

"I suppose we shall. You have a destination in mind?"

"The frog-free quarters of the city, perhaps?"

Izaya grinned, heading for the door on light feet. Each flicker of his knife left behind a puff of smoke where a frog used to be. He looked at Sano over his shoulder, face full of mock innocence.

"Or is that not romantic enough for you?"

"Crude, but I suppose acceptable given the circumstances. I would expect more from a second date."

Sano smirked back, momentarily pleased by his new companion. Judging by his choice of weapon and the speed and accuracy with which he wielded it, they might in fact have shared interests. Entirely charming. And it was, after all, one more pair of eyes to keep a lookout for frogs.

Izaya bowed low as he opened the door - ducking the first wave of frogs - and twirled on his heel as he stepped outside, and almost reluctantly opened a bit of a path for his companion. He could have done more, but he moved as if it was the best he could do. Measured. Waiting.

Izaya hated showing off when it wasn't on his terms.

"I'll bring flowers next time, I promise."

Hampered by his lack of weaponry (but not, apparently, by his absurdly flowing trenchcoat) Sano offered reluctant assistance as he stepped up beside his new acquaintance, kicking frogs aside hard enough that they exploded a good distance away. If he found anything large enough to be used as a bludgeoning weapon that was neither ribbiting nor his new companion, he'd have to take advantage of it.

"A much better offering. I find the frogs somewhat lacking in elegance." Cocking an eyebrow, he grudgingly decided to risk admitting to some ignorance in the hopes of getting more information. "Does this sort of thing happen often?"

Izaya kept on moving, swaying and turning as he dodged more than attack. He attacked only the ones he couldn't dodge without showing off too much, and forced himself to keep his feet on the ground most of the time.

"Well... could be," he turned around as he avoided a frog aiming for his head, and slashed another that was aiming to jump Sano. If he had to act, at least he'd get himself an ally out of this mess. "But I don't think so." He tilted his head to the side, innocently. "Why do you ask? You're not having fun?"

With that fur? He's going to think Izaya and Spitfire share a stylist. :| untilitstops July 17 2010, 05:27:08 UTC
"The novelty might wear thin," he pointed out, looking rather satisfied as one exploding frog detonated in the middle of a group of its allies after he sent it flying. He WAS beginning to enjoy this after all. "And I would need a sturdier umbrella."

"Novelty always does," Izaya sighed theatrically, leading the way to the main street. The frogs were thick around them, though. There didn't seem to be an end to them. "But it's fun while it lasts!" The frogs came out of the sewers too, jaws snapping threateningly. "Maybe I'll get you an umbrella instead of flowers, ne?"

It DOES show a certain fearlessness. Though Shizuo still wins on raw style. untilitstops July 17 2010, 06:00:04 UTC
"Oh my, a practical sort of gift?" Sano drawled, wasting just enough effort to attempt one quick sweeping kick to clear the area. It didn't last for very long. The numbers were becoming faintly irksome, and he wished again for properly functioning AT. Being able to incinerate the lot of them would greatly improve his mood.

"And you had struck me more as the whimsical type."

If you're gonna cheer on Shizuo, Izaya doesn't want to be friends anymore. B| loves_humanity July 17 2010, 06:06:54 UTC
"Ah-ah," Izaya shook a finger in Sano's general direction, moving nimbly out of the way and still dodging more frogs than he killed. "Isn't practicality the best whim of them all?"

Resigning himself with disgust to the fact that he couldn't kill enough frogs to make a dent anyway, Sano reluctantly took up Izaya's strategy of sidestepping as many as he could. At least they weren't very FAST.

"For as long as it's novel, I suppose."

Then again, Sano has the glasses to make up for it... loves_humanity July 17 2010, 07:19:12 UTC
The frogs weren't fast, but damn if they weren't insistent. Izaya led, not that he was particularly happy about that, and toyed with the idea of leaving Sano behind.

"Nothing stays forever, huh?" Izaya laughed a bit, "well, at least the frogs won't, either..."

Those glasses ARE his main charm point. Trufax. untilitstops July 17 2010, 16:35:40 UTC
"And they do clean up after themselves so neatly," he agreed, watching another stomped frog disappear into smoke. It was their only redeeming feature, but that one was worth something. It wasn't escaping his notice that they didn't seem to be getting much less concentrated, though, and he eyed the other man with brief skepticism.
