[Ran Fan sits at a table in a corner quietly downing a sizable pile of pastries. She actually looks oddly content considering her feelings on this.

Master Ling had told her find a partner. He had also instructed her to not wear her uniform unless she knew she would be protecting him, so anyone that hasn't seen her or spoken to her at length may not realize this is the same girl in the mask.

Truthfully, she had no intention of helping Shibusen with this mission, but the opportunity couldn't be missed. And Winry had all but dragged her there, anyway.

Also there were lots of free baked goods.......]

[ooc: Quick warning that I don't think she'll be able to handle any Weapons at this point given her temperament, but if it gets to that point and you want to risk trying that's fine!]

Ah, pardon me-- would you recommend anything?

[ standing a pace away and looking all the more awkward for it, Suzaku wasn't entirely sure what he was doing at the meeting. it wasn't as if he would be able to go on the mission, even if he did find a partner. but... after Usagi, it seemed like a good idea to match up with one Meister or another. ]

[ even though he was relatively sure it would turn out as much of a familiar as it had the time before. ]

[ still, he wasn't sure if the girl he was talking to was even there for the gathering. she didn't seem very social (he felt a bit guilty over disturbing her). were locals still allowed inside of the shop...? ]

[he's glancing off to the floor by the second she looks even slightly out-of-sorts, which probably made the entire thing a bit more awkward-- but he was the sort to latch onto an assumption the moment he found one, and her uncomfortableness was blatant enough.]

[she must not have been part of the crowd finding partners... did the locals know them by sight? that was slightly discerning, even if Suzaku himself wasn't shocked by it.]

[so, a nod that probably looked a bit more like a bow, and he was turning away while smiling.]

Thank you, Miss.

[Part of her felt relieved to see him turn, but another voice starting chastising her that Master Ling would be angry if she failed to do this...

She just needed to say something, right?]

...You are... l-looking for a partner?

[And now her face is much redder.]

[stop, glance back, then a full body turn. blinking, most definitely.]

[oh.]

I-- am, yes. Though, ah... [he doubted resonation would happen. small shake of the head, more composed and amiable:] ... Are you?

[She manages to make eye contact with him, but this seizes up her voice completely. With a very uncomfortable frown, she nods.]

[if she stopped him, she must not have wanted him to walk off...?]

[he wasn't entirely sure.]

[but staying friendly and smiling, anyway:] I'm Suzaku Kururugi. It's nice meet you, Miss...?

[She's still flushed and can't manage an expression other than a frown. Why was this assignment so difficult...?]

...Ran Fan.

[small, respectful nod, and time to put those people skills into use. so that she wouldn't look so flustered, at least.]

Have you been here very long? At the city, I mean?

[Good luck, this will be her default expression for a while.]

N-no. It has... been about a week. ...And you?

[determination.]

Three weeks, I think. It hasn't been too bad so far, though the carnival helped with that.
