You can ambush Minato in a separate thread too! arisatominato June 23 2010, 08:31:28 UTC
[It is too early to be awake. Way too early. Minato finds his way to the Death by Pastry through sheer intuition and a growing familiarity with the city. Bleary-eyed, he arrives to greet Seimei a few minutes late at 8:35am.]

Good morning...

[For the common person, a five minutes is not a long wait. Seimei muses on this for a moment, smiling. He's gotten more impatient for less, but... this boy so brazenly and boldly asked him to join him, it was amusing to have already tested him by challenging him to change his sleep schedule.]

Good morning. I hope this isn't too early for you, Arisato-kun.

[A five minute wake is still two hours too early to be awake for Minato, although his schedule was much more suited to regularly being awake this early when school was still in session. He rubs his eyes and nods in acknowledgement to the greeting.]

It's not too early. Just not used to it anymore.

I see. Many students get very lax in the summer, but honestly, I can't stand a change in routine.

Please, have a seat.

Having a pattern is better. Haven't made one here yet.

[Not tired enough to fall into the chair, Minato sits with the same calm control as always. After another rub of the eyes, he glances between Seimei and the store interior, taking stock of what is already available on the shelves before he remembers,]

You're not eating, right?

No.

"I'll go ahead."

Picking up the menu, Minato glanced at the choices available. Death by Pastry, funnily enough, was one of the few places in Death City that he hadn't yet tried for himself. Sure, he came here that one time to buy croissants and donuts to feed BREW, but never had he stopped by here himself. For one, Death by Pastry lacked that essential taste of the Japanese bakery, the melon bread. Nothing else really caught his eye...

[Seimei quietly takes a sip of coffee, leaning back against the seat.]

Is there any particular reason you were so eager to invite me for a meal, Arisato-kun?

Looking up from the menu, Minato takes stock of his decision--three chocolate croissants, two hot-dog rolls, and a hot cross bun--and shrugs at Seimei.

"I ask everyone to a meal," he explains, "Food is better with company."

I see.

[He chuckles, tucking an arm under the elbow holding his coffee cup.]

People are not so open and friendly in my world. It can be dangerous, after all, to trust someone so quickly.

"It's dangerous here too." Minato adds, raising his arm languidly, elbow resting on the table still, to try catch the attention of one of the serving staff. He makes his order with quiet efficiency. "Being too distrustful is dangerous also..."

I don't think I'm distrustful. But it's rather suspicious for someone to very suddenly, upon your arrival to a new place, invite you for a meal.

But you don't seem dangerous to me, Arisato-kun, so I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt.

[Minato nods]

I invite a lot of people, so it's normal to me now. Are people really that unfriendly in your Japan?

As a general rule, no, but there are a number of dangerous people. Gangs, thugs, the scum of the streets.

That sounds the same as everywhere...

I think I just never was very tolerable of such people. I was too concerned about my little brother getting caught up in that nonsense.
