Really, it had been so long. He'd been to Mafia Land a few times in the past but as for public carnivals... Well, how was he supposed to know he wasn't supposed to copy what some of the performers were doing? It wasn't his fault they forgot to add a 'do not try this at home/here' sign up.

"Love Tunnel? Those things are boring as hell, I don't wanna go on that~" He still had one hand attached to Squalo's arm, rather a habit really. After the carnival incident even going to Mafia land he was required to hold onto either Squalo, Lussuria or Mammon. Whoever drew the short straw and had to take him basically. And not only was he not allowed out of their sight but also had to keep both hands where they could be seen, just in case.

He huffed at the memory. So what if he was so bored in a Love Tunnel he accidentally went on as a kid he laced a bit of wire face level across halfway through? It made things more interesting.

He did perk up at the mention of food though, he hadn't eaten since arriving. "What kind of food do they have here? Think there's any sushi? You've been to this place before, right~? What kinds of rides and stuff are there?"

Squalo didn't move to hold Bel's hand, but he kept tabs on where it was and where the other, free hand went. Experience, mostly, and very personal knowledge of the sort of disaster that Bel could unleash at the drop of a hat. If it seemed strange that two grown men were walking that close around the carnival, he chose to ignore it, because keeping Bel in line was far more important. Besides, it wasn't like his reputation could really take a blow.

"Typical carnival stuff? Candy apples and that sort of thing," Squalo shrugged. You know his eating habits, Bel. He tried a bit of everything in the last two days. "VOOOII, speaking of sushi..."

Might as well get that out of the way while the Prince was in a good mood.

Belphegor had never cared for personal space or public appearances. They were at a public place that had various rides and attractions and stuff. It was habit to be clinging to avoid getting yelled at while planning on how to get away with what he wanted. Though it would be much more difficult to have a little bit of fun here without his weapons.

"Buy me a cotton candy~ And some pizza if they have some."

At the mention of sushi though he paused his train of thought and tilted his head curiously. That food always made him stop what he was doing to find out what was going on involving it. "Hm~?"

Well, at least Squalo had managed to drill that in him. Even if it took eighteen years to get to stick. He hummed at Bel's requests - they were polite, as far as the Prince's demands went - and shrugged a bit, leading them towards the food carts that he'd visited the previous days.

"I got talked into opening a restaurant with my Meister," Squalo braced himself, but knew it'd be better if he told Bel, rather than have the Prince find out otherwise. He was such a child about things. "A sushi restaurant."

Bel couldn't help it. He really couldn't. That one hit him like a double wammy. Triple if he took the indications right. He started laughing and not his usual laugh through his teeth either. This was full out having to lean on Squalo to stand laughing his ass off.

After a minute when he finally managed to calm himself down, still grasping onto the shark's arm he just knew would be pulled away to let him fall to the ground otherwise, he managed to speak. "Squalo~~~~! You're a weapon. You're opening a restaurant. And I'm going to take a guess and say the Vongola brat is you Meister~?"

There was more snickering to be had.

Squalo took it fairly well, all in all. He stood stoic as Bel leaned on him, flaring his nostrils in a very Levi-ish fashion and resisting the urge to wrap his hands around the brat's neck and throttle him a little. After a moment - more like five minutes, all in all - Squalo scoffed, scowling thunderously.

"VOOOOII, if you're done?"

Stupid brat. Squalo would kick him if he didn't know he'd kick him back.

It took him a while, but Belphegor finally managed to calm himself down. Really though, he wasn't too surprised about those facts. It was just a bit amusing. And that of course brought up another question he really really wanted to ask. But letting Squalo finish once in a while would never hurt.

"I'm done~ What were you saying again~?"

Squalo glowered and started walking briskly towards the pizza stand, dragging Bel with him. Irritated, but not too much to storm away alone - what with the fact that it'd mean leaving Bel alone - Squalo sniffed with wounded dignity.

"Just making sure you're not interested in the least bit on it."

Squalo slowed down as they reached a busier area, falling into step with Bel and keeping him close. He looked sideways at his companion, to go with the challenging words, and to make sure no one randomly fell down dead in a heap as they passed.

He tilted his head slightly, his grin getting wider. He didn't care for waiting anymore. The concept of Squalo running a sushi restaurant was interesting, yes. Free food for him and he'd be happy as can be. No, there was something else that was much more interesting.

"Squalo~"

He gave a slight tug to the man's arm, that Cheshire cat grin still on his face.

"Transform."

Squalo turned with the tug, facing Bel curiously. An eyebrow shot up on reflex at the request. It was still jarring to realize Bel was his height. Or thereabouts. He was used to looking down - literally, not figuratively, he wasn't nearly that stupid - at the kid, and though it was easy to see Bel was never going to change - not in any way that really mattered - Squalo was going to need some time to really adjust to thinking of him as an actual adult.

"What, why?"

He had a bad feeling about it. Granted, given the size of that grin, no one could really blame him.

Bel for one was pleased with the change. Less work on his neck really. But for the most part he didn't pay it any mind at all. His Squalo was still taller than him. As were Levi and Lussuria and Boss. And Froggy was shorter than him. He just couldn't catch a break unless he was hanging around the Vongola brats and like hell he'd do that on a regular basis.

Still, there was a very important matter at hand.

"I've been around you for eighteen years, I wanna know if we can resonate or not. You'll let me try, right?"

It was a simple fact really. He had a bit of curiosity wand of course wanted to test out his little theory.

Squalo snarled almost on reflex, feeling the aftermath of Xanxus' attempt to resonate with him come back to haunt him. It hurt like fuck, and he wasn't looking forward to another dose of that. He shivered.

"Xanxus couldn't resonate with me," it was a statement of fact, and he gave Bel a dubious look to go with it. He was curious, sure, but at least when Yamamoto held him it didn't hurt.

It was actually kinda comfortable.

"It hurts like a bitch, too, when resonation fails..."

Belphegor made a face, almost to the point between pouting and annoyance. He wanted to try, at least once.

"So? I get along with you better than he does and I've known you longer and better than Yamamoto. Besides, we'll both get hurt if it doesn't work, right? It's not like I'm not taking a risk here too."

He wasn't really jealous per say. Well, maybe a tiny bit. But it was the fact of the matter really. He wanted to at least be given a chance to try. He didn't worry about it too much though, with his eyes hidden his grin was always a perfect mask to hide behind in any situation. Plus, he really wanted to see Squalo's weapon form. No doubt some kind of sword.

"Unless of course you're scared of a little pain~"

Squalo arched an eyebrow at the sudden tint of jealousy. Oh, sure. This one was older, and probably more used to wearing the grin and the hair and have people take him at face value, but Squalo knew him. He remembered the tantrums and the fights and the wailing about a misplaced jealousy and how terribly possessive Bel could be, of those things - and people - that he considered his. Squalo supposed he qualified; it made him smirk.

And then, before he could utter something vaguely consoling and try to make Bel calm down, the brat had to dare him.

"VOOOII, I ain't scared of nothing."

The knee-jerk was so immediate, that the next thing Squalo knew, he was melting into light and feeling himself shift back into his weapon form.

"Oh crap--"

He didn't really have to taunt Squalo. He knew the shark well enough that he'd always get his way. Bel was a spoiled little brat like that after all. Just a tiny bit of revenge for Squalo implying he was as bitchy in spirit as Xanxus. And it seemed to work as the sharky transformed anyways. Though it didn't seem willing. So, weapons could be forced into transforming? That was good to know.

Bel acted fast, using his perfect princely reflexes to catch the sword by the hilt before it fell. He had braced himself for the pain Squalo mentioned before but was a little bit surprised to find none. In fact, the only discomfort at first was a tiny jolt, barely enough to be more than a bug bite, and the fact that the weapon was obviously much heavier than it was supposed to be.

A wide grin came over his face. He was better than Boss at something for once! Not like he'd ever mention that to the man's face but still. "Maa~ See Squalo~? I told you there was nothing to worry about~! I'm always right because I'm a prince, you should know this by now~"

Squalo winced... in that black, empty nothingness that was the world when he transformed, but the searing pain didn't come. It was surprising, to say the least. While he noticed he felt... torpid, though he couldn't exactly explain how a sword could feel that way, he wasn't screeching in pain. In fact, it took him a moment to feel the buzz of the rejection, far tamer than he'd anticipated.

It still was very different from when Yamamoto used him, and Squalo noticed the differences right away. He usually felt lighter, more at ease in Yamamoto's grip, but Bel's wasn't too terribly uncomfortable. Maybe in an emergency or if they were caught in a pinch, it'd be enough to get by.

"Yeah, yeah, don't brag. How do you feel?"

Along the edge of the sword, part of Squalo's face appeared as if reflecting from a certain angle.
