Tony hadn't, at first, been in the mood for a Carnival when it came by. Usually he'd be the first to the celebration--any celebration--just because it was fashionable and because he would get all the attention his arrogant personality needed to keep going. But he was still adjusting to the new world and lack of personal goodies that kept him happy and made him popular, not to mention avoiding the subject of him slowly dying and overall being unnaturally depressed. It wasn't like him to worry so much and it was starting to take its toll.

But then he'd had his talk with his PA and been invited to view a show by the gorgeous lady-magician and he had no choice but to go anyway. So he got there a little early (truthfully it was all Pepper's prodding, not to mention boredom since he was missing a proper workshop) and walked around while his PA was assisting the magician in preparing for her show. (No, he was not jealous at all; whatever would give you that impression?) He stopped at a few booths but nothing really caught his attention ( ... )

No sooner had the warrior removed himself from the crowd did he find himself approached by yet another. It was rather taxing not having the human race cower at his large stature, and as he peered down at to regard the man, it appeared as though this would be a continuing trend.

"If you are asking this from a human's perspective, then I would be considered both," Tassadar murmured before there was a subtle chuckle reverberating throughout the human's mind, "But to me, it would be you who is the alien."

Tony blinked. Too stunned not to stare, at least he wasn't gaping open-mouthed. He blinked some more and then finally his head tilted to one side in a curious and questioning manner.

"How do you do that?" Beat. "What are you doing?"

The reaction given was common, and the templar took no notice of it. He was beginning to understand that most of the humans here have yet to experience the psionic abilities their future children will begin to show. Perhaps such a thing was fortunate given what the warrior knew was coming.

"I am speaking with you telepathically," Tassadar murmured before giving a slight shake of his head. It was far more than mere telepathy, but the templar hardly wished to bombard the curious human with the details of his abilities.

Reaching up with one large hand, Tassadar gestured towards his elongated head as he offered, "My race is well known for their natural psionic abilities, and it is through this that we communicate with each other and those around us."

The fair was as massive as he'd expected, but Kurapika didn't let it deter him from plunging deep into the maze of merchant stalls and entertainment booths. It wasn't so unbearably chaotic, in any case - he'd seen far more confusing setups in carnivals back in his world, and he knew that he shouldn't miss this chance to browse for items that weren't readily available in Death City ( ... )

No sooner had he began to retreat had Tassadar found himself almost bumping into yet another human. Peering down to regard the young male, his eyes glowed softly in thought. There was an odd sense of familiarity with the appearance and tone, but it wasn't until he spoke of guests and the network that the templar was able to find his answer.

This child was one who had been attacked, had he not?

"Indeed," Tassadar murmured as he tilted his head to one side in consideration, "You were one of the victims of Doctor Crane, were you not?"

Kurapika winced at the reminder of the attack. It was a harmless question, or course, but up until now he'd managed to make himself forget about it, or at least push it far enough to the back of his mind that it would take a very vivid reminder to trigger a relapse--like an entire stall decked in blood-red cloth, maybe, or a giant spider display. He shook his head to clear his thoughts and shifted uneasily on his feet.

"Yes. That was a few days ago." And he blinked as he realized that the being in front of him didn't have a visible mouth. Telepathic, maybe? The question had the resonant quality of Kuroro's voice whenever they talked directly through their thoughts during resonation. "You're..." Not human. He couldn't bring himself to ask it.

"I see. Then I am please to see that you have recovered," His head subtly inclined as he spoke those words. The human nature never seemed to change regardless of the time period they were in, apparently. It was such a shame considering the potential for them as a race.

The reaction that was given was one Tassadar had grown used to well before arriving here in the city, and so he hardly found himself bothered by it now. He instead waited patiently for the question to come, but when it appeared to trail off into nothing, the templar chuckled lightly.

"I am not human, correct," He finished off instead. While his psionic powers weren't even at a shadow of their potential, he didn't need to read this one's mind to know the question that had been within.

Nill found herself straining her neck as she stared high up on the ... scary thing, and couldn't decide in between running away, running away crying, or just ignoring it and running away afterward. What is that thing? Why is he so tall? Is he going to eat her, oh nooooooo --!

No sooner had Tassadar began to disappear had he found himself confronted by what looked to be a young human female. He waited patiently for words to be formed, but when he received nothing but silence, the templar tilted his head to one side, "I hold no desire to answer any question you may have."

He was certain that once she got over her shock, the questions in regards to his presence here would begin rolling out.

Nill stood frozen, scared. He can ... read minds?! No, it doesn't seem like it -- more like he's talking inside her head, and Nill can't decide whether that's good or bad. Ah, what should she do -- well, if he hasn't gone and picked her up to eat her, then perhaps he's not that bad ....

She takes out her communicator and decides to talk with him anyway, typing a word and then extending it up to him as high as she can:

hello do you like the carnival too |

Hopefully he can read it -- !

There was something different in regards to this one than there were to the others previously surrounding him. He remained silent as she pulled her communicator out, and with a tile of his head, he read the message written to him.

It caused him to pause at the unexpectedness of it all before he regarded the young female thoughtfully. "It has been a unique experience so far," Tassadar murmured before he tilted his head to one side curiously, "Are you a citizen or visitor to this city."
