Things had been surprisingly slow as of late. Really, the only patient she had had was Prussia, and he was at the point where he really didn't need to be here anymore. It made her restless. Unlike home she didn't really have a constant flow of work which meant there was a lot of free time for her.

Needless to say when she hard a knock on the door she instantly jumped to feet and rushed over to the door. Before she opened it she stopped--calm, Winry. Collect yourself. She took a breath in and opened the door, blinking a bit when saw saw who it was.

Ah, the Squalo person. She hadn't expected him to get here so quickly. "Come in, come in." she said, now growing excited again. She was really eager to see just what this hand of his was like. She hadn't gotten a good look at it when they had talked over the communicators.

Squalo's left eyebrow twitched as she opened the door - an aborted arch that had been almost automatic as soon as he got a good look at the girl; she was younger than he'd thought she'd be. He stepped on the urge to point it out, though, for one because he was moderately willing to give some credit to Watson as a judge of character. For another, because this was still better than that Stark guy and his goddamn ego. (Squalo hated the arrogant bastards, they were all so unjustified and over the top, it was nauseous.) Still, he was wary already, his nerves frayed, his temper barely leashed and the twitching of his hand was making him feel vulnerable, too. He'd fought the idea of getting a hand so much because of this. Because now he considered it part of him, and whenever it wasn't working right, he didn't feel whole, despite the fact that he was.It was annoying ( ... )

He noted his surveying of the room with some curiosity, but he asked his question it made sense. He was probably figuring how much it would take for someone to maintain the clinic on their own.

"Nah. I have some help. Dr. Watson and when things get a little hectic, other people like China who have medical experience." She closed the door behind her, glancing down at the plank that was covering the hole she had punched in. She should get that properly fixed at some point, it wasn't like she was doing much else. At least in the evenings.

"Hopefully we'll finish construction on the other clinic soon though, and then I'll have to look for other employees."

She walked over to a table and cleared off some paperwork and trinkets on it. She pulled up two chairs for them and took a seat.

"What happened that you're in a need of repairs?" She hoped this guy wasn't one of those reckless ones like Ed, and how no doubt, Prussia would be.

Squalo hummed. He knew better than most that adapting was the key to surviving when the world decided to be a petty bitch, but it was still... sometimes surprising, to see how functional Death City really was. Or rather, how functional the outsiders had made their corners in Death City. Maybe that Rubik's cube of doom actually knew what it was doing, pulling people in. Squalo had noticed fairly quickly that people seemed to adapt more often than not, even those - such as himself - that had protested loudly or been downright against involving themselves in the matter.

Maybe they weren't quite as screwed as he usually thought they were.

"Watson seems to think highly of you," he did arch the eyebrow, then, because he didn't think Watson was helping her so much as the other way around, but he refrained from outright saying so. He merely hummed at her intentions to expand ( ... )
