The moment that he'd found out about the attack, Yuuri had been off and out of his apartment. He knew that it was dangerous out on the streets, but the young Maou wouldn't ever leave a friend in trouble like that. Besides, he didn't think that Doctor Crane would ever attack him even if the man had been running around attacking not only his friends, but a lot of other innocent people instead.

There was a steady breath falling from his lips as Yuuri came running around another corner. The instant that he saw Raenef sitting just a little further down, was the same moment that the young Maou pulled his mind from his thoughts. Fear raced through his chest at the sight, and Yuuri had to push the sight of the dropped groceries all around his friend.

He had to make certain that Raenef was alright!

"Raenef!" Yuuri called out as he ran towards his friend.

Raenef was just pondering the location of BREW, whether he could somehow use it to bring Eclipse to him when he heard Yuuri approaching, calling to him. He lifted his head from his knees slightly, glancing to him, head tilited upward slightly from his sitting position, not bothering to stand quite yet.

"....I thought I told you not to bother." he exclaimed. Really. What a fool. Raenef had told the kid to stay away, yet he hadn't listened. If he got hurt and pissed the Demon Lord off, so be it. It was of no consequence to him, after all, and he had warned Yuuri.

"I'm your friend...", the line ran unbidden through his head before he shook it away, giving a small sigh and running a hand through his hair.

"What do you want?"

Yuuri was breathing heavier by the time he finally reached where Raenef sat. Half bent over as he stood just off to the side of his friend, the young Maou tried to catch his breath as he said, "I would never leave you out here like this even if you don't want me here."

Dropping down into a crouch, there was nothing but concern over his friend's health while he regarded Raenef, "I want to see if you're alright. Maybe I should take you to the clinic to get you checked out?"

The Demon Lord shook his head, one hand to his knee as he stood to his feet at least, before raising his arms to behind his head, closing his eyes and shrugging.

"I don't need the clinic. I am perfectly fine. I told you already. There was no point. Unless of course you could help get Eclipse back, that is." he trailed off, the last slightly softer, less harsh then his initial nonchalance and indifference to the other's concern for him. He felt perfectly fine, physically. Right? Right. Ignoring the warring feelings and emotions, conflicting thoughts.

The young Maou watched quietly as Raenef pushed himself up to stand. The worry was still evident on his expression, and he didn't think for a moment that everything was fine. His friend was hardly acting like what he knew of the Demon Lord, and he wanted to do everything within his power to help him.

"But you're not acting like yourself!" Yuuri said as he stumbled back a step while standing. Righting his balance, the young Maou took a step forward as if to further dive home his point, "Besides that, you were attacked so you should go and make sure that you're alright!"

He remembered well what happened to Sara the day before, and the last thing he wanted was for something similar to happen to Raenef. Reaching out, the young Maou began to offer his help as he said, "Here, let's get going."

"I am acting as any proper Demon Lord should." Raenef countered, snapping a little quicker and harsher then he otherwise would but for his frustration. Why did this boy trouble himself over him anyway? Friend was such a foreign word, to any Demon Lord. Or, it should be. No, was. Demon Lords did not have such relationships, he reminded himself.

"And I am fine. I do not need your assistance or that of the clinic, boy." he declined the request, ignoring any injuries he might have sustained from his encounter with Crane only moments earlier, ignoring the outsretched hand offered to him, but unable to quite tear his gaze from it completely. It bought back memories. Eclipse. The hand of friendship....

"I....Eclipse. I have to find him. My Demon. That is more important." He had to. If Eclipse had abandoned him for this long.....He quashed the thought as quickly as it came, unbearable.

The snapped words might have caused Yuuri to flinch, but it was more because of the tone rather than anything else. He was far too used to Gwendal and his scary face to find himself too bothered by the sharp words of anyone else, and besides that, Raenef was his friend!

"Boy? You haven't forgotten my name, have you, Raenef?" He didn't drop his hand at first after it was declined, but instead he couldn't help but still feel worried. A quick glance over what he could see of his friend showed a few grazes and bruises, and it only seemed to cause his chest to clench painfully. What he wouldn't give for even just a hint of his majutsu right now.

Shaking his head, the young Maou peered back at Raenef as he smiled honestly, "Then let's go look for Eclipse together."

Raenef didn't answer the initial question. It was all a mess. It hurt. His head, again. Just like the last time....but most important was finding Eclipse. If he was even here. Raenef had a nagging feeling, a certaincy, that his Demon was not here, from the more dim memories of more recent times. He simply gave a nod of agreement, ignoring any slight injuries he had as he stepped forward and past his friend ( ... )

His friend was definitely acting a little strange, and it worried Yuuri more than anything else. The signs of a struggle and injury didn't help either, but he wasn't sure what else to do other than to try and go along with this for now. He didn't want to harm his friend, after all, and he didn't have Conrad or someone else around to give him a suggestion. So for now, he would play along.

"Maybe," Yuuri softly said while watching Raenef carefully. He wasn't quite sure how to help with this kind of thing, but he'd have to try his hardest to help his friend through it all. Showing the gesture of moving, Yuuri's attention remained fixated on his friend as he smiled in understanding, "I know what it's like to not have your precious person close to you."

Likewise, might be a bit slower until the 22nd. mock_me_vermin June 10 2010, 03:54:33 UTC
Raenef was silent as he made to follow the other, not sure what to say in response. Eclipse was the only one who really understood, accepted him as he was. Helped him be better. In Demon Lord lessons and otherwise. He was unsure how to put it into words, or if he even should. So he decided to remain quiet, simply following alongside the other boy, uncertain where they were going but only hoping there was a way to bring Eclipse in to him, not seeming to notice the staring or undivided attention he was offered from Yuuri.

Yuuri didn't mind Raenef's silence in the slightest. It was something he was used to while travelling around with some of his retainers, Gwendal in particular, but he found it to be somewhat comforting in his own way.

He didn't notice the attention he was receiving from his friend as Yuuri continued to march down the street happily chatting away. "Aaa what I mean is that I remember when Conrad was gone for a few months and how hard it was to be without him," He said with a comforting smile, "I only managed to get through all of that because I had my other friends there to help me through it."

^_^ Just figured I'd mention it, I do have a hiatus up from a while ago but still. mock_me_vermin June 13 2010, 10:31:27 UTC
"....Friends." was all the Demon Lord said. The word seemed both oddly foreign and familiar on his tongue, aloud. He shook his head. No. Demon Lords did not have such relationships, he kept reminding himself. There were only the mortals below them, their Demons whom served their Lords, and the other Demon Lords, whom one never bowed to or treated as less or more then one's equal.

"....I see." But, did he really? He wasn't entirely sure.
