At first, Souji wasn't too bothered by being brought to Death City to help fight in the war. He was used to being plunged into strange situations by now, and more than happy to help the people of Shibusen out. Sure, they were in the middle of going after Adachi at the time, and he was worried about everyone back in Inaba, but he was sure they'd be able to handle things without him. Everything would be okay while he was gone. He'd help out here and get back as soon as possible.
And then, his teammates began showing up. Rise had been there for a while already, while Kanji and Yosuke followed shortly after him. Okay, there were still enough people to take down Adachi, and it even turned out that Yosuke was after they caught him, and told them everything that'd happened between then and him leaving Yasoinaba. It was a lot to take in, but still fit in with what had already happened. It was a relief to know that they'd won, and everyone was safe when he left for the city.
But now, BREW had brought Nanako. Souji found himself experiencing a sudden feeling of panic, much like when Namatame had thrown the two of them into the TV world. At least this time he could do something about it immediately, and knew exactly where she was. This time, he'd keep her safe, like big brothers were supposed to do.
Pushing down the feeling of guilt that came with the thought of his cousin in the hospital, where she'd been when he was brought to Death City, Souji made his way down the path to the Kishin Chamber. He turned off his communicator at that point, looking for Nanako in the familiar area. He was glad that talking to her as he rushed down to the Chamber had helped, but now he was there for her in person. "Nanako?"
