Eight years ago, I estimated my average pinfalls at 165. I'm not a very good player, but at least I could hold my own against some fairly seasoned keglers and at one time I even won a division championship in a company tournament.
That was 8 years ago. I haven't been playing at all since then, up until yesterday when our company tournament opened. I started my game with an open frame (0-7), the ball somehow doesn't feel right in my hands despite having re-drilled holes. Second frame, I hit a Spare, and thought maybe things would start to look up from there.
My next 7 turns were all open frames. Consequently, I ended the game with 92.
92 pinfalls.
Someone take me out back and shoot me in the head!
Argh, talk about career worst! I was so disappointed and embarrassed for being the one to pull my team's score down that I didn't finish the day's scheduled games and left early.
So, is there anyone out there who could give me pointers on how to get my old game back? Practice? I know, that's a given. But the ball just doesn't feel right anymore. It's the same ball that I used 8 years ago, but now it just seems to have turned into a stranger who refuses to communicate with me. I just can seem to do anything right with it. Is it time to get a new ball? Something lighter, perhaps (I'm using a 15 lbs Hammer)?
