Well, aren't you the most optimistic person around here?

My pessimism is a fact I revel in. You should only find fault and despair in those that are overtly optimistic for they are the ones who will die first.

[Ouch]

But at least they live their life to the fullest and probably have no regrets either.

Does that mean they will live longer than others? What point is there in living your life to the fullest if eventually you will die before those that you wish to outlive?

[This talk is the last thing she needs right now]

...Who said that they won't?

Because they are optimistic, they will cease seeing the so-called bad and cease looking out for what will kill them.

In other words, they're too good for a place like this. Is that what you're saying?

No, it isn't what I am saying at all.

I had a feeling it wasn't...but that's what I want to think.

I'm not trying to start a fight nor judge you for thinking how you think.

Man's life is very short and this is a fact that cannot be ignored. Living as one wishes to live is the best way to carry on one's life, that much is true. Constantly wasting energy focusing on the positive when there is negative is just that -- wasted energy. In years time, will anyone remember what it was they were optimistic about whenever something came? No, because they will find other issues that they must be optimistic about. It merely seems like a waste to me, and that is all.

I wasn't looking for a fight either. I understand how you feel, I've been that way before.

...But you're right, being too optimistic is just as bad. But...being so pessimistic is too. So we need to find a balance somehow!

No, there is nothing wrong with being overtly pessimistic.

There is no need for a balance.

Boooo!

Now you're just being difficult.

Not at all.

This is how I will live my life. My pessimism and materialistic nature is far better suited for survival than anyone else's. Those that focus on balance will never find it, because it is impossible to balance such things. Yin and yang does not exist. One must choose one over the other, and I choose the lesser of the evils.

But why?

I don't understand why you can't just be realistic. Balance is needed sometimes, just like you can't have chaos without order or someone who is truly evil like that! Nothing is completely black and white!

...But if that's how you live your life, I won't argue with it anymore. I can't change someone's mind on something like this. I think...it's something you'll have to see for yourself.

Because there is very little value in being optimistic about anything. One should only know what is possible rather than try to constantly do the impossible for whatever reason.

You sound very young, but that's hardly a fault upon you. For the time being, anyway.
