[there's a rustle, like paper moving.]After talking to a few of you, it seems more and more clear that many of us are from worlds that are radically different. Both from this one and from one another. Places that we've never heard of on Earth, at least not in my time, and from what seem to be alternate dimensions of Earth... Even Japan sounds ( Read more... )

IT'S NOT JUST ALTERNATE TIMELINE EARTHS OR FARAWAY FANTASY LANDS.

SOME OF US GOT DRAGGED HERE FROM OTHER UNIVERSES. IT'S LIKE BREW GIVES NO FUCKS WHEN IT COMES TO CHOOSING PEOPLE TO FIGHT FOR IT.

YEAH. YOUR UNIVERSE TECHNICALLY DIDN'T EXIST WHEN OURS WAS AROUND.

That is terribly confusing.

NO IT ISN'T, DON'T BE SO DAMN LINEAR. IF OUR UNIVERSE LIES ON A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PLANE OF EXISTENCE, YOUR SPECIFIC FLOW OF TIME HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.

It sounds like science fiction.

But I was never all that good at science.

A METEOR STORM PICKED OFF MOST LIFE ON OUR PLANET, AND ANYTHING LEFT BEHIND GOT HIT WITH A FREAK SCREAM FROM AN ELDER GOD.

YOU KNOW, STANDARD END-OF-A-UNIVERSE FARE.

I KNOW IT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING OUT OF PARTICULARLY SHITTY MADE-FOR-TV CINEMA, BUT YEAH, LITERALLY. APPARENTLY THERE'S A LOT MORE OF THOSE OUT THERE THAN PEOPLE THINK.

Gods are something of a touchy case on my Earth. There are many, many different factions of beliefs, but as far as I know nobody has ever seen one.

RELIGION IS WEIRD AS HELL ON EVERY PLANET. IT'S LIKE SOME FRUSTRATING IMMUTABLE LAW OF NATURE. IF YOU SHOW UP SOMEPLACE, THERE ARE PEOPLE THERE WORSHIPPING THE DUMBEST POSSIBLE THING YOU COULD THINK OF.

I NEVER ACTUALLY SAW THE THING FOR MYSELF, BUT I SAW WHAT IT DID. AND WHAT ITS PROTOTYPING DID TO OUR SESSION. THAT WAS MORE THAN ENOUGH.

Yes. Usually, it's the effect of the cause that's most troublesome.

EXACTLY. THAT'S THE SHIT YOU MOSTLY END UP DEALING WITH, ANYWAY. THE AFTEREFFECTS.
