oh it's just Asch. who looks pretty haggard, considering he's come down with a rather nasty cold from a mission he and Rufus went on a couple days ago in Greenland. yeah, see, running around in the cold after being dragged into the ocean.... wasn't such a good idea. what a pain.]

[Rufus sees this on his lunch break. He's taking the afternoon off and coming home to sever Asch's contact with the outside world as soon as he picks up something they can eat. He'll be home around 3pm.]

[He's quiet when he comes home, just in case Asch is asleep. Rufus unlocks the door and sets a shopping bag down on the counter.]

[oh no. Asch isn't asleep. nope. he's in his room, with the door wide open, just waiting for you to come home. which is why, after a few minutes, Asch is at his bedroom door, staring at you drowsily. so he may or may not be a little loopy.

and by a little, i mean a lot.

so he's had some of that cold medicine.]

[The look Rufus gives him is definitely a little frigid, but his voice is calm, almost friendly, as he pulls things out of the bag. There are cans of soup, lime sherbert, and some kind of tea, as well as a fresh gallon of milk and a loaf of bread.]

I saw your network post.

[aaaaaaaand Asch doesn't even think twice about that look. really, he is in no state to notice things right now. he shuffles to the kitchen, and ungracefully plops down at the kitchen table.]

[yeeeeeeah, he's not very intelligent right now, either.]

You should be more cautious. We can't risk Kadaj figuring much out about you.

[Rufus puts everything away, then glances over at Asch. It's hard to be mad when Asch looks like death and it's technically his fault (not that he'll ever admit it). He sighs.]

Have you eaten since I left?

[he shakes his head slightly]

Been too sick to make anything.

[That draws a frown from Rufus, he glances over at the couch, notices Luke still asleep, and keeps his voice low as he delivers the news to Asch.]

Until you're well enough to handle that, I'm shortening my hours at work. I'm not sure I trust him to handle things.

Can you eat, do you think?

You... really don't have to do that. He'll be fine enough to handle things.

[he gives him a wary look]

Why, are you cooking?

[Rufus ignores that first comment. He's already made up his mind, and it's only for a couple of days. It won't hurt him financially or anything.]

I can use the microwave without destroying anything.

[He's making Asch soup whether Asch likes it or not though, and goes about doing it.]

[this is defs Asch not doing anything to stop Rufus... actually, Rufus could probs screw around with the stove and Asch won't do anything to stop him...

[folding his arms on the table, he leans forward and rests his head on his arms. yeeeeeeeep sure is unsure about this loopy feeling.]

[Rufus gets the soup going in the microwave, then gets Asch something to drink. He checks the clock - time for more medicine - and grabs that too. He takes the glass of what smells like some lemony-lime soda and the medicine over to the table.]

[He also presses the back of his hand to Asch's forehead, checking for a fever.]

[he sure does has a slight fever; he looks up at what Rufus brought over.]

[Rufus pulls his hand away, looking displeased.]
