Bad because you're worried they'll get hurt, or bad because you don't want to see them? [The second option has follow-up questions, like--bad because they're more people you know than friends, bad because they'll make your life miserable here, bad because you're not really on good terms with them...]

Bad 'cause I don't wanna see them. Them getting into the worst kind of shit heads over heels has never been a surprise.

You can always let them fend for themselves if they're always getting into trouble, so much that your first reaction upon seeing them is negative.

Would be nice. But I'm not talking about the kind of trouble where ya can make a mistake and then walk away to try it again later on.

Saying that I don't want to worry about them doesn't mean that I can just suddenly stop doing it. We were pretty close, at a time.

What happened between then and now.

Can you not consider those events in light of the current situation? I don't know if you've realized it, but we can die here, with all our problems back home unresolved, all promises unfulfilled, and if there's a chance for you to work something out with your friends, you should take it before it's too late.

There's nothing to be talked about getting sacrificed for a cheap laugh.

[Oh.

How terribly awkward.]

... You can always just ignore them instead.

That's what I've been trying. It's still bad when ya know that that shit's gonna happen all over again.
