[Thanks to the thumb that was resting on it, it's by sheer random luck that Itsuki happens to press the green button. Seeing as how she doesn't understand how the small box operates, she remains oblivious to the fact that she's turned the communicator on as she stares intensely at the keyboard. She doesn't get it.

Then she looks up, and Itsuki starts when she notices an apparent change in the screen.]
