[kamui's cooking. he's cutting things on a chopping board and dropping them on a pot and it looks like this. and he has a fairly complacent demeanor throughout the whole process, that it's a little difficult to tell that he's ridiculously bored. not that it's because it's a working day, but because it's another mundane day in death city and he is ( Read more... )

I... am afraid I do not know the answer to this. I am still very unused to this world and the way it works that I am afraid I may never consider it a home.

It's alright. I was merely rambling.

[a smile.]

Home is always different for everyone, after all. Where are you from, if I may ask?

I am afraid I will not feel at home as long as I am out of the service of my lord... Ah-- I am Kasuga of Echigo-- Hi-No-Moto, that is... I-If I am not mistaken it is today's Japan.

Oh. I've met someone from there. Date Masamune. Do you know him?

And I'm from Japan, as well. Though at a modern time.

Yes, he is... [ there is a short pause as she considers the exact relationship between them. ] ... we have... fought a battle as allies, though he has sought to take the lands belonging to my lord before.

I see, you are not the only one I have spoken to that is from modern Japan... [ she is not sure what to make of it, particularly since the last one she had spoken to directly had learned of Kenshin through history. ]

It's rather an interesting sight, watching the history books come to life.

[a smile]

Though I doubt any of you could've imagined the world to become anything like this, back then.

It is strange... knowing that our time is considered history to many. Yet, at the same time I do not know what history is true. It has been told that the man who unified our lands was someone who had died early...

No... I could not have. There is much I am afraid I will never understand.

[a shrug] No-one expects you to understand everything; I don't even think anyone in this place does.

If you want to know the future, you can pay a visit to the libraries here. They've got it all written down.

Perhaps you are correct, however... I-I do not know if it will be such a good idea to know about our future... After all, it is impossible to know which is the true future. There are many from my time in Hi-No-Moto that say that things have happened differently than others remember it. While it is possible they could be lying... I... do not think that is so. [ But she really does want to know more about Kenshin... ]

[smile] It was only a suggestion. And even if you learn about the future here, it's one possible option out of a myriad of choices. It doesn't necessarily mean it will happen, but it could.

Ah-- Yes, I did not think of it that way. Perhaps I will pay the library a visit... [ If she was honest, she would say she's afraid of what she'll find written in the texts. ]
