[Video] Filtered from Gai

Mar 18, 2011 19:28

[The feed flicks on to show Lee sitting outside, back against the trunk of a tree. It's obvious from the chaotic mess of his hair and the sweat dripping down his brow that he's been training- but his expression is odd.

It's not the adrenaline high that those who know him would expect after he's spent hours training.

If anything, he looks- well. ( Read more... )

[For a moment, he's silent, trying to puzzle out what Lee just said. Then he remembers their earlier conversation.]

Do you mean your teacher?

[Lee flushes slightly, but after a moment of awkward silence, he nods.]

I see.

Then he does have feelings for his meister. [A pause.] He told you this?

[Lee hesitates, then takes a moment to fiddle with the privacy settings. He wants Kakashi's input, but he doesn't think Gai would appreciate...]

He did not say it directly. But he did not say that he did not have feelings for... [Yeah, Lee can't bring himself to say it.]

And he seemed- different.

What, does the person they've got feelins for have eyes for somebody else?

[Lee's eyes widen, and after a moment he shakes his head.]

I do not think it is something like that.

[A beat.] It is just- I do not know why someone would not be interested in him. But he thinks that...

[a small, derisive sound. well geez, if Eridan could have it as good as everyone else with relationship problems here, he'd be as happy as a clam.

bluntly--] Tell him to stop bein' a wriggler and just fuckin' court the person already. Proclaim his feelins for 'em atop the highest mountain he can find in this stupid desert, let his voice pour liquid poetry on the parched shitty earth -- each word a dazzlin' iridescent gem in the eye a your hideous Earth sun. Take 'em forcefully if you have to, people're impressed by that.

Then when he's got their attention, he's got to prove himself, got to show he's not as spineless a land dweller as the rest a you prolly are -- maybe bring 'em a few spoils a war. Dead aquatic fauna, the bottled rainbow blood a their enemies. Or flowers.

Somethin' like that.

No worries. Mine aren't working at all, heh. verdant_lotus March 19 2011, 02:59:08 UTC
[Lee nods through this, carefully noting it down- but at the end, he pauses, and just looks down at his notebook.]

That is what I thought he would do, if he had feelings for someone. But instead he is quiet and sad. It does not make sense.

I know that humans do not have the same romance system that we do, but I would comfort them and encourage them to talk to this other person.

I'm not an expert on this though.

That sounds like a good idea.

[A pause.] But what if he does not want to talk about it?

If you and him are a human equivalent to moirails, you would be comfortable with speaking to each other about anything and accepting each others' advice.

I am not certain what moirails are. [Another short pause-] He is my teacher, if that helps?

Tell'em to confess.

Then console them, if it doesn't work out.

[Lee hesitates for a moment.]

What if they do not want to confess? [Another pause- and when he starts talking again, it's slow, as if he's feeling out the words as he says them.] If they have been friends with the other person for a very long time?

They should still confess!

It's bad to hold things in, even feelings towards other people. You can't grow if you don't challenge yourself, in doin' things you don't want to do.

[Does Lee, really think he is fooling anyone? This is the oldest thing in the book.]

[Another moment of hesitation, then he nods.]

I think that you are right.

But- how do I explain that to him in a way that will work? If he does not want to talk about it?

[He's sadly being 100% honest about asking advice for a friend. Since his partner would probably murder him in his sleep if he were asking this for himself.]

I read a story once, where someone fixed a similar problem by locking the two in a closet for 13 hours.

I think I may have read a similar story. Of course, mine was not the PG version.
