[This time, when the video feed turns on, Souji is already smiling into the camera; he looks tired, yes, but also extremely relieved. [ Kurt fumbles with the communicator to allow it to do both video and text, both filtered. He smiles into it, obviously pleased at his technological know-how. He just figured Souji might want to see him, as opposed to just a stream of burgundy text. ]

It's okay. I talked to him already and he seems passable. I'm glad he came and you have one more friend here. Tell him get well soon from me.

I'm fine. Better today. They might let me out tomorrow as long as I come in every day after for check-ups and re-dressings. Plus I get some lovely drugs to take home with me.

He did tell me that you two talked a little bit. I'll let him know that you wish for a speedy recovery. [Smiles.] I know that he wants to meet you in person. We'll have to get together, all three of us, when you're both a little more up to it.

Well, that all doesn't sound too bad. You're not dying, and you'll get your voice back after awhile. I'm really glad to hear you're feeling better.

Maybe the day after tomorrow? I can't wait to get out of here, and I want to meet him, but I can't imagine catching a cold from him is going to help me on my road to recovery.

Nope. Not dying anymore. I still have to eat soft foods for a few days, though. That might somehow kill me. Either that or the expenses I'm going to have after spending a fortune on more bottles of bruise ointment.

Don't worry too much about the cold. He's a little melodramatic with things, and he doesn't have a fever anymore. Another day of rest, and some real food should do the trick. [He grinned, leaning back.]

Hm. When they ask for soft foods, do they have specifics in mind?

I know they just give me what looks and tastes like Gerber baby food. Lots of apple sauce and pudding and for protein, this disgusting shake thing that shouldn't bear the name "chocolate" on the label, but does anyway.

I have other specifics in mind. Far more palatable ones.

Okay, as soon as you're let out, I'm going to come by with soft food that is actually edible, so you'll be stocked for the rest of the week at the very least.
