07 phobias | video
[the comm shows the side view of a window in Monk's apartment. Monk himself is crouching next to it, handheld vacuum with him, methodically sucking up the grains of sand that manage to wriggle their way through the slight gap of the closed window.
his voice is of a similar low hum as that the machine's emitting, occasionally intermingling with the vacuum as he speaks]
I never want anyone to ask my why I hate the desert again. Mobile clouds of filth invading a city every day, blowing things out of place and letting dirt creep into houses, mucking up the water system...
[he purses his lips, focusing a little more vigorously on his task as if to try and shake off the cloud of fear and negativity]
I've got enough water and food, but you still can't see out the windows. It's not, not comfortable. Even if I'm over the claustrophobia.
[...] I haven't done anything useful in months. What are you supposed to do, when the one thing you're good at isn't possible at the moment? My ideas would probably upset people, so I thought I'd ask someone sane.
