[There's some muttering that can probably be heard in Mandarin Chinese. People who understand that language might hear something about the whole debacle with the theives, and that there should be a damn better way to go through drills than by committing thievery even if they had the intent to restore their personal effects ( Read more... )

My my, that's quite the reaction to the thieving.

[He looks thoroughly amused at the display before the mention of a new dessert at Death By Pastry catches his attention.]

Did you say that there's Tiramisu?

Y-yeah. Sorry about that.

[Awkward, awkward, until the pastry is talked about, then there's a smile.]

Oh, yes, I've made some Tiramisu! Would you like to come by and try some? I think you will like it.

There's no need to apologise. We are all entitled to our opinions ♥

Ooh~~? That would be positively wonderful! It has been some time since I've last indulged in such a dessert.

That is quite true, but... are you not grossed out in some way by what I said?

[Yes, that was the main 'fear' so-to-speak. Most others would have a very negative reaction. In fact, that one time he managed to make many, many people in a tournament puke with the way he described ways of killing people.]

Then it would be my pleasure to serve you the finest quality dessert, and hope it will be to your deep satisfaction.

What's Wife Cake?

It is a traditional Chinese pastry that is very popular where I come from. It's made with winter melon, almond paste, and a variety of spices which have to be balance just right in order to get the best taste you can. It can't be too sweet, nor can it be too bland, which is difficult for most people to do if they aren't trained.

Why don't you come by and try some?

Ooh.

[Thoughtfully:]

I do like sweeter things, but that sounds nice enough...

Wife cake? [Yes, the keywords are directed at whoever named it]

[Uh-oh. Something wrong with the name? Her voice sounded... well...]

Y-yes, wife cake. Is something the matter, miss?

It's an intriguing name.

There are different stories to tell of how it came to be named like that, but the main one goes a little like this:

There was a very loving, yet poor couple in Imperial China, when there was a plague that made many people fall ill. The husband's father quickly became sick, and he tried his best to get the medicine needed to treat the father, but it was just very costly. The wife, who loved her husband dearly, sold herself as a slave so that her husband could buy the medicine. He was grateful for her self-sacrifice, and made the pastry in memory of her. The pastry was so good, and he sold so much of it, that he was able to earn enough to buy her freedom back, so that they could be together once more.

At least, that is the one that I remember.

... It's a good thing if your actions only keep to your words. This is a habit, I take it?

[Oh, Crap. Mr. China can of course understand EVERYTHING he's said.]

As far as the elaborate ways on which I could kill people? Maybe. I have had to kill others, but not with as much flair as I would like. It's kill or be killed, the place where I've directly come from, Mr. China, even more so as a person of my position back there. There were many assassination attempts on my life just because of who I was.

And who were you, exactly?

[because that's the sort of question this fuels, you realize. he'd thought Prince had just been a ... bad choice of a birth name.]

[He thanked the Buddha for having compassion on him for having Mr. China talk to him in Chinese instead of in English.]

Before coming here, I had gone to some other... universe that was quite different.

[Okay, so Feng Lan was stretching out the truth a bit, but they wouldn't believe Prince even if he said the truth at all.]

And after many fights, battles, and several wars, I became the overlord of the entire Central Continent. I wasn't the only one, there were the other four overlords of the Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western Continents. Actually, I was about to meet with them before I came here.

Of what I can remember, it's something about Kappas killing people out in the countryside, and that we are to go overnight, and would be paid one-thousand DD's for the two of us, along with any kishin eggs acquired.

It simply says that we are to dispatch the Kappas, that's all.
