[Somehow Shinjiro managed to ignore the newcomers yelling all over the comms. Not that he was sleeping anyway, and it shows. in fact he looks even more like hell then he does normally. He opens his mouth to say something, closes it, then tries again.]

Drank too much, sleeping in. Mustang, can someone take my shift tonight?

[For a moment he looks about to say something, something to ease her worry. Something he should have said back home. But what? 'Don't worry, Ken's not here, so no dying until we get home? Maybe next year?' No, everything he could say would just be hollow.

So, like he does with Aki, or anyone else close to him... when softer things get too hard, time to hide behind harsher things.]

[Minako pauses for a moment, because... well. She knows Shinjiro gets snappy. She's seen him do the exact same thing with Akihiko, but has never actually been on the receiving end of it. And wow, it... kinda hurts.

She's been woken up in the worst way possible on a day she's been worrying about since she got back from Michigan, and for a split second when she heard the SOS alarm she was scared it was something to do with Shinjiro. Finding out it was actually Phoenix having a massive PTSD break down wasn't any better. She's tired, and still a little scared about both of them despite knowing that Phoenix is okay.

She doesn't need this right now, Shinjiro.]

... Fine.

I'm going in late. I'm at the clinic.

[A pause, where Shinji looks about to apologize. But he's too hurt, too wrapped up in his own guilt. Better he piss her off then have her here, trying to help him and seeing all his nastiness bared open.]

...alright, yeah. I'm... I'm going out. [And with that he slams the DEMISE comm closed, though he apparently does a crappy job of it, as his stomping footsteps can still be heard, and the door slamming behind him.]

Ah--[Minako winces as the communicator is slammed shut, and stares at the blank screen until it stops emitting any sounds. Rubbing at her eyes with the heels of her hands in frustration, she slumps slightly in her seat.

That went abysmally. Now she feels bad too.

With a sigh, she removes one of her hands and goes to shut the communicator. Maybe she should just call in sick to work today. It's not going to be the best day for concentration anyway, and if she's going to snap at people she---well, if she's going to snap at people for no good reason... it's probably not the best idea.]
