[With a quiet blip, the blurry image of somebody poking at their communicator appears. After a little while it focuses, to reveal a youthful, bewildered looking face peering curiously at the object in his hands. He doesn't seem to be treating it awfully carefully, judging by how perspective seems to rotate and jerk abruptly at odd intervals. There' ( Read more... )

Like what everyone said, there are missions! The bounties here can only be taken down by partners, but Shibusen puts them up from time to time. Witches are even harder than that.

[chinrub] If you want a gun, you'll have to look for a weapon partner for it. Err, if you're a meister, anyway.

...I'm a Weapon. [Apparently.] What does that matter?

Oh, well. [blink] If you're a weapon, you should probably look for a meister to wield you. After you find out what you are, of course.

Wield me? What? [Ignorant, and not liking the sound of that.]

Well, if you're a weapon, someone has to help you use your abilities, yeah? [Uuh, how does he explain this.] For example, if you're a gun, you can't point and fire yourself. So weapons like us need a helping hand to be effective!

[He seems to think about this for quite a while. In truth he's piecing together this along with everything else he's heard in the process of incessantly hounding people.]

Okay, so let me get this straight...

I am a Weapon who can transform into a, well, weapon, but I have to be 'wielded' by a Meister. That's my only option because other weapons don't really exist in this world. If I want to help fight crime, I have to do missions for Shibusen.

[There's so many things he finds wrong with the above, but the most important question first:]

How do I transform into a weapon?

You don't exactly have to do missions for us -- there's some petty crime here, too -- but that's the idea, yeah. [twiddles his thumbs] You can get conventional weaponry here. Not in this city, since those are rare, but elsewhere. It's just that they don't work against the kishin eggs that we normally hunt here.

[Ah, that!] Meditation is the best method for it!

[PROGRESS HOORAY. But let's not get ahead of yourself, here, Train.]

I should probably learn how to change anyway. I mean people are being kidnapped, and it's not normal people doing it. I don't know how to meditate though...

[BUT MORE PERTINENT QUESTIONS.] Where's the nearest city to this one? [...oh wait.] Aren't we in the middle of a desert?

[Well, you are a train, so... /bad pun]

You can go to training tomorrow morning and try there. I attend it to help guests change to their weapon forms. Some people throw themselves off the stairs, but I wouldn't suggest it! It's very dangerous!

[Oh! Spirit has to remember his general geography...] We are. The nearest one is Las Vegas, but that's a long way off.

Stairs would be pointless - cats always land on their feet! [He grins confidently.] Alright! I'll try training.

...how do you guys get around? [We're in the middle of a freaking desert, man.]

[Cats?]

Outside the city or inside? If we want to go somewhere outside the city, we have mirrors that take us to different places. Inside the city, you can walk, take the tram, or buy a scooter!

Mirrors? Are they magical or something? Where are they? [And thus he continues to brutally assault Spirit with questions.]

Sorta, yeah. They're in Shibusen, one of the rooms at the top. Only Shibusen staff are allowed to man them, though. We normally use them for missions outside the city. [Herp derp!]

But! If you want to try traveling the normal way, you can use a buggy and drive on.

Oh. How far i- [And then he stops. There's almost an audible click as everything falls into place. Ohhhh, sneaky, Shibusen. Obviously he was going to have to work for them if he wanted to go anywhere.]

Alright, I get it. [He doesn't seem to begrudge the set-up. That's just how things are, and he's gonna roll with it. His expression does grow more serious a moment afterwards though.]

I want to know about these Witches.

[scratches the back of his neck]

They're a race of women who have magic in them. They have this thing called the sway of magic, which makes them naturally destructive. A lot of them have animal counterparts, which can be seen distinctly in their appearance and fighting style.

[He mulls this over.]

Are they born that way? And is this 'sway of magic' genetic?
