We aim to have a sound body and sound mind in shibusen. Why is that? As the monkey student explained, "you can't have a good soul unless you've got a good mind and body". Without it, your soul becomes lost, and it is much easier to fall into a state of madness or become a kishin.

First off, madness is the "disease" of a soul. It is a contagious disease that destroys the mind to the point where you lose all of your senses. You literally become mad. Having a strong heart and courage gives you a stronger resistance to this madness.

When your soul has become so corrupt, you start to desire to eat pure, human souls. Once this happens, you end up becoming a kishin, the epitome of madness.

Huh. Then wouldn't insanity be the corruption of the mind, not the soul? [Have a hand raised from this corner of the room.]

Right. However, since having a sound mind will create a sound soul, a corrupt mind will also create a corrupt soul.

Does it? If you have questions still, please don't hesitate to ask.

Er. Does it show? I mean... what about this whole transforming thing? Does that mean that our health affects transformations?

[Raises hand.]

Do human souls taste good?

I would not know. Eating a human soul is considered one of the greatest crimes in this world.

It must taste good. I hear kishin eat a lot of souls.

They might very well be. However, once you start consuming human souls, you will end up following a terrible path in which returning is near impossible.

If it is a big problem, just make human souls taste bad so that nobody wants to eat them.

If it was that easy, we would have done so by now.

... Have you tried it already?

We can't test the flavor of human souls.

You could lick them.

[under her breath] Wow, that would suck.

[raises her hand] How often does that happen?
