[ It looks like one of Dudley's laptop computers. Harry stares at it. It's definitely not wizard made. He looks around the room for a means of escape and finds nothing. Maybe… He starts randomly pushing buttons on the device until it crackles to life.]

Er… Can anyone hear me? Is this some kind of radio?

Hello?

Wizarding world...? [then in a louder voice] Hello?

[ Desperately relieved to hear a voice responding. ]

HELLO?

[He blinks at you with some surprise - as far as new arrivals go, you're probably one of the most panicked he's heard. The desperation in your voice doesn't go unnoticed, though, so have a (hopefully!) comforting smile.]

Err. First of all, calm down? The device you're holding isn't just a radio, and it's capable of broadcasting a video message to the network, like what you just did. Everyone accessing the network at the moment can hear you. If you have questions--which you probably do, if you just arrived here--simply ask them. Someone's bound to try to answer you.

[Harry is rather sick of being told to 'calm down', but he grits his teeth and doesn't yell.]

Right. Thanks.

I've had a few questions answered.

I still don't really understand what anyone's got against these witches, though. Witches that no one's ever seen? That the people who brought us here have told us are 'evil'?

Why should I believe them?

Do you believe them?

[He scratches the side of his jaw as he considers his answer. The same questions have been thrown around over and over again, and up to now he still can't answer them definitively.]

I have no reason not to believe them. It's true that I've never seen any of those witches, but there have been at least a couple of events, said to be caused by the witches, that are difficult to explain normally. There's also the matter of us being given new abilities when we arrived here, and Shibusen has been helping us get used to them.

As for why they're considered the enemy... Their singular goal seems to be the creation of a demon god capable of spreading madness around the world.

[He seems so sure, but Harry isn't convinced.]

Just because they're in power doesn't mean they're telling us the truth, though. And kidnapping me and stealing my wand and magic hadn't done much to earn my trust.

[Harry's eyes flash.]

New abilities? What new abilities?

A 'demon god'? Is that something to do with the eggs that eat souls?

[He doesn't comment on the trust thing. It's all up to the person getting dragged here at this point. But the part about abilities, he's more than willing to explain, since it's been beaten into his head by now.]

You're either a meister or a weapon. Meisters are people who can synchronize with and wield weapons, and they usually have special abilities of their own, most likely related to the skills they had in their world. Weapons, on the other hand... [slight hesitation here, it's always this part where people balk because of the physical changing thing] have the ability to physically change into weapons.

And kishin eggs, yes, they're people who've started to consume innocent souls. If they eat enough, they turn into a kishin - a demon god. Weapons are the only ones capable of purifying kishin egg souls.

[another pause as he considers the words "magic" and "wand"] And your... magic and your wand weren't stolen so much as sealed, or at least, that's their explanation. Your abilities most likely wouldn't work here.

[Harry wonders if he'll be a Meister or a weapon. What would it feel like to turn into a gun or a sword or... what?]

So, I'll get them back? When they let me out of here? [He focuses very intently on the screen.]

[nodding] Most likely. It's also possible that I'm thinking too much about this. My theory is that things just work differently around here. Like a different set of laws for physics. Our abilities are gone since they can't work here, so conversely, we should be able to access them again once we return to our world.

[hesitant pause] When you said "magic", by the way... what are you capable of doing? I'm sorry if I'm prying, but I'm really curious.

[Okay. Okay. That's something. Something he can hold onto to keep him going. He can live without magic for a while; he's done it before. And it isn't gone for ever it's just... being stored temporarily. He takes a deep, shaky breath.]

Thank you.

I could cast all sorts of spells. When you're a wizard, you pretty much use magic all the time. You use it for cooking, cleaning, moving things about. You can change a rabbit into a seat cushion or makes someone stay perfectly still. You can make something louder or stop it from making any noise at all. The more you know, the more power you have, the more you can do.

What did they take from you?

[Have another acknowledging nod, but all he did was field questions, really. The other boy's description of his "magic" sounds more like a way of life than a specific ability, though, and Kurapika can't help but be fascinated by it.]

Too bad. If your magic worked here you could probably fight with no problem. All you'd have to do is change kishin eggs into something with less teeth and claws...

I lost access to my nen, or what you might call life energy. It's a bit too complicated to explain here, but I could heal myself, seal another person's abilities, dowse for objects, among others. And make myself stronger and faster and slow down ageing.

[He shakes his head.] It feels like I've been reduced to being a normal person here, but I can't deny that the meister-weapon system works against kishin eggs.

Heh. I wasn't very good at Transfiguration, but I could have given it a go.

Nen sounds useful. I'm sorry they've taken it from you.

[... a normal person. Harry blinks.]

Being a normal person doesn't sound all that bad, actually.

How do you find out if you're a Meister or a weapon?

I suppose. I've had more than a month to get used to it, though, so I'm dealing with it.

[He cocks his head as he checks the log records.] You've met Allen Walker. I've heard that he has the ability to see souls. He might be able to check which you are. If not, you can try contacting Maka Albarn or Professor Stein from the school - they have the same ability.
