Ah, the magic of modern indoor plumbing! Isn't it amazing, sir? [amused, but he also shares the enthusiasm for the amazing that is the modern bathroom.]

It's an impressive feat, I'll give it that. [a suspicious impressive feat.]

The kitchen also displays fine technology. Why, if you turn the knob at the left, the water instantly warms up!

Oh, so this is all technology? [which still all seems like magic stuff to him! still, he's interested in this knob thing...] I had wondered where to get hot water, given that there's no fires.

The shower would already have it, I believe! We should really get one of the more adept men here to teach us the use of these devices.

Now that is a good idea! You wouldn't expect a man to swing a sword without training, these odd things should be no different.

[He is pretty pleased by this friendly young man.]

Indeed! Are you perhaps a warrior, sir? May I have the pleasure of making your acquaintance? I am Doctor John Watson, formerly of the British Army.

[ah, a physician! no wonder he's so sharp. and a military man!]

The pleasure is mine. I am Arthur Pendragon, head of the Knights of Camelot. [so most definitely a warrior.]

[Double-take. Let's just say he has been talking to them at the same time.] The Arthur Pendragon? Oh dear, I should have known that you would be here, sire, given that your advisor is also present. You are a thing of legends! It is an honor to meet you!

[hohoho, well he is renowned throughout the lands for his prowess. such praise should be expected for him!] I see my reputation precedes me!

[-wait.] My 'advisor'?

Yes, sire, I believe your story precedes my time some few centuries, although of course I had always believed it to be a work of fiction.

[Grin! He thinks this will please Arthur.] Your advisor, Merlin! Although he claims that I am mistaken, which is very perplexing indeed. He is often depicted in the legends as the most powerful sorcerer of your time.

I've learned [the hard way] that there's often much truth in legends and 'fiction'. [centuries, though... that's an awful long time to be well-known for.]

Merlin? [snrrrrrk] He's hardly advisor material. He's hardly servant material. And he's most definitely not a sorcerer.

As I am learning now, too. This place goes beyond the bounds of logic, whether for good or for bad.

[PERSISTS, his childhooood] The Merlin of the legends is very wise, and also powerful. He is, perhaps, the most respected character there second only to yourself. I cannot imagine how he is not a sorcerer!

[this place is going beyond the bounds of logic for him this very moment!]

The Merlin I know can barely polish armour correctly. Perhaps you speak of some other 'Merlin', given the stance Camelot takes against sorcery.

There is only one Merlin ever documented at King Arthur Pendragon's side, and that is the sorcerer Merlin. But I know not of this stance - as far as I have read, your time as King is a time of great prosperity for all, including sorcerers.

[well, that's a little. disconcerting.] The practice of magic is outlawed within the kingdom, and I am not yet king. My father is.
