[The feed clicks on as the PDA apparently topples over onto the floor, displaying low angled shot of a room lit from rather tacky purple-glass light hanging from the ceiling that coats the the area in an odd, sickly pinkest hue

Oops, forgot to mention SHADOW and whatnot, but... Yeah, goes without saying? XDantiakumaFebruary 1 2010, 23:37:39 UTC
Yes. But they are taking a stance in a time of war, and it is war that causes strife--I want to believe it's simply a knock-on effect of that. [He goes quiet to flurry the cards between both hands then, the left staying rather withdrawn and intentionally away from gaze.] But I don't know that I can.
You may squish him if you wish, in a meta-kinda way XD! And of course Shadow!Allen is forever videoantiakumaFebruary 2 2010, 00:04:32 UTC
But that's it, we don't get to decide! We don't get choices! Everything is decided for us and laid down in a way that we just have to accept it.
There is no system of trial and end result for anyone who wants to fight based on what they want--compatibility is nothing to do with determination, or motivation, or want to help. We are brought to fight because of pure chance, because we were chosen by Innocence to fight. Innocence doesn't ask. The Order, therefore, doesn't ask.
S-sorry for tl;dr at poor Basil ;;;;antiakumaFebruary 2 2010, 00:46:53 UTC
[Shaking his head.]
It's different for everyone, because everyone is different. They come to the Order from different places, for different reasons, but the reasons for the Order to take them in is the same.
[He continues to toy with the pack of cards again then, quiet again for a moment before speaking once more.]
In our world, a substance called Innocence is needed to fight our enemy. Compatibility is non-negotiable--you either are or you are not. You get no say either way.
I killed my step-father for the second time with my Innocence. He was the only family I'd known--my blood parents abandoned me because of the Innocence. Mine is in my arm, you see. It made it look grotesque. It still looks grotesque.
After I destroyed him, someone suggested I should become an Exorcist. I didn't argue. Why should I: I had nothing left.
Just as well XD;; Even Shadow!Allen likes to soap-box, it seems ;;;antiakumaFebruary 2 2010, 10:15:39 UTC
I didn't ask for it, it's just how it is.
[He seems a little confused about what Basil is saying exactly here, frowning as he shifts in his seat.]
There are two sides to this war. One of them is not an option, the side I ended up fighting for are fighting for humanity. That must be why I am with them.

Would you fight, if given the choice? ... Do you know the answer for that?

... I don't know. I had nothing left at the time.

[another hesitant pause, but nothing forthcoming.]

You seem to be asking that question, now. 'Why are you with them so wholeheartedly.'
... There should be an answer to that. You wouldn't say "I didn't ask for this" if there wasn't.
