[Jazz is sitting on her bed, several books and magazines spread in front of her. Those who are observant can see that each one has something to do with meditation or the 'higher plane'. She shuffles a few papers before looking up at the communicator.]Okay. Obviously things aren't going very well outside of the city. All this madness stuff ( Read more... )

The theory behind meditation isn't particularly difficult to learn, however it does take patience and requires a certain amount of commitment to be effective in the long-term. I'm capable of instruction if you're confident it's something you want to learn.

Theory I can handle. It's the actual practical part that I'm not sure how to go about doing.

[She smiles.]

It is something I want to learn.

Understandable. In that case, I'm Hyuuga Neji, and I can be found watching over the Intermediate division of morning training if you'd like, unless you have a preferred schedule. I've hardly attempted to teach anyone, but I've been meditating for a large portion of my life, so I should hope I can be of some assistance.

I'm Jazz Fenton.

I'm actually working out my schedule but I need to get a finalized list o what exactly I'm doing before I can set it up. So I can show up...though I'm still in the beginner part of training.

[So please don't make her fight. She sucks at hand to hand combat against living people.]

Would you be bothered if I ask you some questions?

Thanks!

Well mostly I just want to know what sort of preparation goes into getting ready to actually meditate. Cause I'm pretty sure it's more then just candles and new age techno.

[No idea what 'new age techno' is, but it sounds pretty irrelevant]

Meditation takes patience and focus. If an individual attempting to learn meditation lacks a sufficient amount of either trait, the natural first steps are to work on improving those capabilities; removing distractions and creating a peaceful environment as well as providing a focal point- often the reason candles are used to sharpen a student's focus.

It's an acquired skill, necessitating that patience and a certain amount of dedication.

[It is. And it's annoying. Don't listen to it.]

Focus and patience I can do. It's sort of required to deal with life as a teenager in my time. I think the needs are covered but things are never that easy.

So, how would someone start meditating. What sort of things would you focus on to start clearing your mind?

The method I've had most success with myself is an internal focus. In my world, the chakra running through my system was a prominent point and aided me considerably in finding that inner peace. Here, the soul and it's wavelength seem to function in a similar matter but of course, I don't expect it to be a viable option for everyone- particularly those unaccustomed to such a focus.

Instead, I'd recommend a focus on breathing, as it's a prominent regulating factor as an individual begins to relax.

[She is taking notes on all of this. Actual written notes. She taps her chin with her pencil.]

I've read recently about Chakras. There are seven right? At least seven that everyone writes about

[Breathing? Okay...makes sense but she wouldn't have thought about that.]

Seven...? [A frown. Where did she hear that from?] There are eight chakra gates, although I suppose they are technically located in seven places. Of course, there may be variations and different teaching in other worlds.

At any rate, the chakra I'm familiar with runs through complex coils and ties in closely with the internal organs. There are 361 tenketsu along the body, which can be manipulated through the application of foreign chakra. This is the fundamental principle my clan's main fighting style is based upon.
