[It looks like... Vash is sitting on the top of one of the cranes at the edge of one of the Zones. He's been thinking.]
There's a song that's sung inside the heart of every person, a song for peace, a song of love. But fear is the shroud that wraps around people's hearts, and stifles the sound of that song. People forget the peace they hope to obtain, blinded by fear until they're consumed by a madness called hate. Is there a way to pull back the curtain of fear and remind people of the song in their hearts? Only then will everyone sing together in harmony.
[Very dramatic, Vash. It looks like the end of a movie. Then he stands up with a grin, you can see the lights of the city behind him instead of the dim shapes of construction staging.]
But Death City should fear no more! I should have made the announcement sooner, but one Vash The Stampede has joined the Watch so this handsome and generous young man could devote his time and energy to protecting you fine citizens! So you can sleep easy in your beds tonight!
[Vash throws back his head and cackles. And slips. The cackle turns into a shriek, and the communicator falls faster than Vash, whose fall was arrested by a tall stack of large plastic pipes. Which then the cable holding the pile snaps. Vash resumes falling, now joined with a load of 36 inch corrugated conduit. It all makes a fantastic crash when it hits the ground. A moment later Vash crawls out.
