[Hello there Death City, here is Zelos looking mighty confused.]

I have a question for those who may have an answer. Is it normal for those from the grid to sleep in bathtubs? My partner Ram has curled up in our with a blanket and everything, so I am just wondering if this is one of those cultural difference that I don't know yet... or something

[yep, he's definitely amused. But there's something else hiding in that expression]

Zelos dear, I can inform you with some certainty that is not a cultural difference that you're not understanding.

[Zelos would love to know what is going through your mind, Mr. Castor.]

I see. I wanted to make sure I wasn't just unaware of something that you and your fellow programs do before I ask him why. In the world I come from cultural differences not being respected has caused many... problems.

[It's a fairly safe bet that you don't really want to know]

Oh, I can inform you why, my dearie, but it not a matter of culture. It's more a matter of opportunity. You see, beds and bathtubs do not exist on the Grid. The texture of this world is quite different, and it takes time to accommodate oneself to the change.

I myself have grown accustomed rather quickly to the concept of "mattress". My standby mode was not nearly as entertaining as it is now.

I think I am starting to understand, but I am still a little confused. Are you saying that he is sleeping in the bathtub because he can? Or is it because that surface is more... normal... for him?

I imagine a User could sleep in a bathtub "because he can", but I believe your second option to be more correct based on my experience.

Are you implying that because Ram is a program he can't do something like that just because?

That, dear Zelos, is another matter entirely and varies from Program to Program. Whether or not a Program can do something "just because" depends on core programming. It is a long and boring explanation, I assure you, and this is not the case here.

It's likely the simple matter of comfort. You should have this conversation with him, as I cannot speak for his opinion.

I see, so it is like how some people have the initiative to do things while other don't?

I will do that, I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't be going into this with an unexplainable cultural difference to deal with.

That is a passing fair way of thinking about it, yes.

It is not. But even cultural differences have their ways of working themselves out given time and two parties who respect each other. You will be fine.

That, at least, helps me to understand.

Thank you for such kind words and trust, Castor, you are a good man.
