[hi death city. bet you can't get enough of this jerk, right? well that's good, because he is once again intruding on your network with a smile, sitting at what appears to be a counter in his apartment's kitchen, a plate of something unidentifiable from this viewpoint peeking in at the edge of the screen.]

I suppose you've all heard about the ( Read more... )

[Itou sounds thoughtful.]

Do you have faith in the people staying behind?

[he blinks at the screen for a moment, and when he answers it's with a careful innocence.]

Hmm? Well, it's not as if I know all of them. Not even most, I'd wager. But the city is still standing, isn't it? So I suppose they've done a fair job so far...

Then perhaps you are being too kind in alleviating our worries. I find that this is the most easygoing war I've ever been in.

I'm not quite sure I follow. You say it's an easygoing war, but that people should worry regardless?

No. What I mean is that I find the people here entirely too easygoing when a war is supposedly at hand.

Ah. Well, I'd like to blame it on the fact that many of those who've only just recently arrived haven't yet experienced an encounter with the witches or kishin eggs, but that might be a bit unfair. There are plenty of us that have been here for much longer that seem to have fallen into a sense of security, after all...

But still, I don't believe that it's wrong to soothe people's concerns. Even when their country is at war, the general population should not have to lie awake in fear every night. It's the duty of those leading a group and those fighting for it to make everyone else feel safe. There are plenty of people here who aren't fighting for whatever reason, be it that they can't or just don't want to, and at the very least they should be able to rest easy knowing there are others who will protect them.

[Slowly, as if he's weighing what he's saying carefully. A lot of the information in this world is new to him, being that he's just arrived here and has been in the clinic since then, but he's still gotten some information to sort through.]

However, it seems that we're hardly part of the general population. Regardless of our stand in how we view, deal, or participate in this war, the fact remains that we are all special in a way or another in the terms of this world. Is it not the case that the enemy would be more set in disposing of us than the regular citizens here?

One would think. But the enemy seems to just enjoy chaos at times, or assumes that there are a significant amount of fighters worth killing staying behind, or just wants to lower morale by killing civilians.

And the threat is not always due to the witches. Not all the guests here are entirely sane or "good" people. I have seen plenty of incidents occur just because of someone that BREW brought in.

[most notably, jonathan crane. but that's old news to all you green little newcomers.]

That's not unlikely. There are terrorists from my own world also here, after all. [Hm hm.] What would you say about the level of trust the guests in general have on each other?

In general? People are too trusting. It's unfortunate, but true. This is a dangerous place and letting one's guard down around people who have not earned your trust could prove fatal.

That is unfortunate. I suppose that explains why an organization of strangers like the Watch has power here.

I wouldn't say that they have power. It's not as if they run the city or anything. But few are going to complain about a group that's volunteered to protect them, so they certainly do get some respect.
