Ok, why is it so hard to find Harry Potter fics I like!!?! The unfortunate thing is, I've seen some excellent writing... but often for pairings or plotlines that I can't at all see happening and therefore don't read. The unlikeliness factor/disturbance factor just nags at me relentlessly until I stop, despite the quality of writing. This is what

Some of my greatest irks are the same as yours, so when you get some more recs, I'll start reading them, too!
Aside from After the End (which I love so much that I just made a soundtrack for it over at hp_soundtracks and shoebox_project (on which I am terribly behind in my reading), I've had trouble finding Good Quality Fics.
The only two that I would recommend (and even then, I have reservations, as they are both NC-17) are over at The Firelight. It's a Harry/Ginny-centric site.
The first I'd recommend is 17, Clumsy and Shy by Velvethope. And the events of that story are later continued in In Essence: Undivided. And it seems she's updated quite a lot since I've last been there. Excellent. For a while, I was afraid she wouldn't continue the story. It's still a work in progress. Her plan is to continue through the end of year 7.
The second I'd recommend is a lot darker, but is very intriguing, in part because of the incredibly mature subject matter (someone puts a curse on Harry and Ginny, forcing them to be together -- lots of emotional complexity there, plus a mystery). It's A Matter of Circumstance by Elsielann. For now, however, she's stopped MoS (which is written from Harry's perspective) to write A Matter of Perspective (the same events, from Ginny's point of view). She plans to alternate back and forth once she catches up on Ginny's side of the story. Elsielann also stopped posting for quite a while, due to rl stuff, but I think she's back now.
Also, I'd recommend you send an email to daily_snitch or quickquote, so you can get a wider range of people reading this post.
I'm now off to do some HCR assignments, since HUFFLEPUFF MUST WIN! :D
