Chidori looks up from her sketchbook in order to glance at Junpei in confusion. "...a holiday?"
Junpei nods. "Yeah, a holiday. Ever had one before, Chidori?"
"...no." She looks back down, trying to keep her gaze on her sketchbook in order to try (and fail) to ignore the multitude of expressions that cross Junpei's face.
"Seriously?!" he starts, far too surprised. "Never? N-Not even once."
"There was no reason for me to have one," is all that Chidori states, a simple fact that hasn't changed at all as she tries to pick up where she left off before Junpei had interrupted her work.
Junpei stands up now from his chair, one fist clenched. "Well, we're going to go on a holiday once you're out of here!"
Chidori looks up. "And where would we go, Junpei? A holiday costs money."
"Not all holidays need money," Junpei quickly replies. "I mean, its not like we're going to Yakushima or anything. We could just have a holiday here."
Chidori still isn't certain about this. "And what would we do?" she asks, because she isn't sure. Because a part of her wants to believe, but can't.
Junpei tries to think. "We could go on a walk... go to somewhere nice... and you can do your drawings." A pause. "And maybe watch the sunset, or something like that..."
"Too much light hurts my eyes," Chidori states plainly, and Junpei balks a little at that.
"W-Well, I guess we could go moongazing--"
"The Dark Hour, Junpei."
"--oh yeah, huh." The boy deflates, sagging now, and Chidori's certain that she's said something wrong. She tries to think of a way to make this better, but Junpei quickly recovers. "We can go on a holiday after we get rid of the Dark Hour!"
It's impossible to get rid of it, Chidori wants to say. Once the Dark Hour is gone Junpei won't remember anything, wouldn't remember anything that's related to the Dark Hour - which means he most likely wouldn't remember her at all. Their meeting would just be a dream, and her love for him a fleeting memory.
Rather than saying that though Chidori nods, and replies. "Alright, Junpei. That's what we'll do."
The boy grins and laughs, and Chidori wonders how much longer she'll be able to see that happiness before it shatters.
