Karkat, Terezi [CLOSED] [just outside Casualty Communal] [midnight] dungenessmaster May 24 2011, 04:56:22 UTC
Even with the advance warning, Karkat was running late. Between organizing the people under him on the Watch and arguing with trolls about evacuation and shelter and where to be if they were partnered (and where the fuck was Eridan, speaking of partnered trolls? Karkat was going to have to track him down later and give him the business for ignoring his memos, god dammit), he was still trying to get out of the hivestem and over to his district when the first wave of kinshin eggs broke against the city walls.

It didn't help that Terezi has ignored his orders to the point of coming over to poke at him while he worked. She'd refused to leave, even with all his yelling and insisting it was for her own damn good, so they were together when they hit the ground floor and left Casualty Communal.

And the kinshin eggs were already swarming.

Terezi had found herself in a moment of insane boredom and therefore decided to bother Karkat, even though she knew he was busy. It didn't matter, Karkat was the most fun to poke at when he was busy anyway! Despite being her so-called leader, she didn't really listen to his orders. In one ear; out the other.

He kept talking about kishin eggs and danger, and while she remembered well what happened last time she still didn't really understand the concept. It just hadn't become interesting to her yet. However, her nose picked up some strange smells as they went together down the stairs of Casualty Communal -- when they exited she could see everything.

"Hopy shit, they're actually everywhere!" She grinned, before turning over to Karkat and nudged him with her elbow. "So, leader, what do you suggest we do???"

Yup, he was only her leader when she decided he was.

God dammit, was she an idiot? Karkat growled under his breath and glanced around -- nowhere was totally safe anymore, but if they hurried maybe he could get her to the safety of Shibusen anyway.

"We run, dumbass," he responded, grabbing her hand and pulling her toward the school. "You don't have a Weapon; you can't kill these things. Come on!"

He only got a chance to pull her as far as a nearby alley before a kinshin egg dropped to the ground in front of them, humanoid and wild-eyed.

"SHIT!"

She shrugged, following him as he dragged her off -- wait what was that smell? Terezi didn't get the chance to open her mouth and tell Karkat before he obviously noticed it. She didn't even flinch -- why would she? She already knew it was there -- as it appeared, she just started smelling around to get its appearance and location.

She turned to Karkat with a wicked grin. "Hey, you're a weapon aren't you?"

The announcement that there would be an attack of Kishin Eggs to the city really meant nothing to him. He had been within the walls when Adachi had come storming in, but this was different he assumed. Of course, he was stronger now than he had been back then. Well, his weapon was much stronger, and their resonance was stable and improving as they fought ( ... )

Sephiroth had been wondering how long it would take their enemies to make an assault on Death City. While he cared nothing for the city, or most of the citizens within, the ex-General knew well that one of the best time to test the defenses of a target was when they were at their weakest, and Death City truly had been ever since the barrier had collapsed not long ago. Really, it had surprised Sephiroth that it had taken the Witches this long, but then again, they did have to round up their brainless army in order to attempt this assault with ( ... )

Maybe it was a little overzealous for her to be here at the city walls when she was still partnerless, but Lady didn't particularly care. Her time here had made her somewhat proud of her job and position, and now that a real battle was on it's way, she didn't want to leave her post. Sure, she'd made Roy promise that no one would make her do anything suicidal, but she didn't consider this that. After all, no place in the city would really be safe, and as long as she had a chance to fight, and eventually a chance to run if need be, then she was satisfied ( ... )

As the sound of raging Kishin Eggs became clearer, he glanced towards his weapon as Sephiroth decided that it was the time to transform. His right hand reached out to grasp the long hilt of the blade, and the singing increased as their soul wavelengths complimented each other. He held the blade out towards the walls and glanced to the side to Lady, giving her a rueful look.

"Kishin Eggs when in their defeated red form have a profound effect of me," he replied but made it sound a little like a joke. He could fight as many Kishin Eggs as he wanted without any sign of his nausia rising, but the moment those little red souls appeared... well, he was going to try really hard. "Don't stand too close, since I ate this evening."

He turned his head to look around to see about the number of people in this area. Good thing he made the front line, he decided. Turning back to face the wall, he mentally scoffed at his partner. 'Is there anything in particular that you want? Speak now or I get to decide.'

The flow of Kishin Eggs was a near constant stream, and while he was vaguely aware of the many that he and Sephiroth had destroyed, the next wave just kept coming. Some slipped by him to the teams beyond, but he made certain to step in to take on the ones that looked more lethal than the others. The trickle thankfully hadn't turned into a wave, but it was still grating on his sensations ( ... )

Despite his bladed form being covered with the blood of their enemy, it still sung loudly amongst the carnage. It had been some time since he'd had to keep this form for so long, and he could feel the strain beginning to mount. Sephiroth wouldn't allow his focus to weaken, however, and continually reminded himself just what was at stake.

The few targets that slipped by them were of no concern to the ex-General, as he was focused only on the ones that could deal any form of harm to Cloud. Nothing else mattered outside of the survival of his Meister, and he wouldn't allow for any attack to get passed his blade to land on the blonde.

'Perhaps' he said in return while Cloud launched himself towards one of the larger Kishin Eggs. His bladed form hit against the sharp claws, causing sparks to fly off of the metal, before Sephiroth felt the flesh of the creature's throat surrounding his length.

Such a situation didn't bother the ex-General in the slightest, and he coolly murmured in response, 'Yes, that must be the reason.'

The sparks from the meeting of blade and claws was one that he had expected, and as he shoved out the strong arm from reaching around to grasp him, he felt the Masamune shift up rapidly. The Kishin roared as the blade pierced through armour and slid through the creature's throat.

He shifted his grip and pulled the long blade through flesh, cutting through vital blood vessels. The roar turned into a wet gurgle as the Kishin fell backwards with Cloud still firmly planted on its chest. The body disintegrated to leave yet another red soul, and this time he lurched forward to cough violently.

Backing up quickly, he held the Masamune defensively as his abdomen heaved with effort that he fought against. He managed to keep it to heaves and had to spit as he rose, batting away a Kishin as it flew at him, cutting it in half. A weak one, he thought. 'I'm not sure how much longer I can stay out here in the front,' he finally admitted, the gusto leaving his voice.

The sharp edge of his blade tore through the flesh of the kishin egg as Cloud pulled his Weapon form through it. He wouldn't deny feeling a bout of satisfaction within as the creature's roar turning into a satisfying wet gurgle, and inwardly smirked as it fell to the ground moments before disappearing to leave another token of their victory.

Still, he could feel the exhaustion beginning to settle into Cloud's body, and Sephiroth kept his silence as his Meister reacted to the sight of the glowing red orb. It left him frowning subtly, but the ex-General made no comment about the reaction.

'There are others who can take up the fight in our steed,' Sephiroth said after Cloud had batted away another Kishin Egg that flew in towards them. 'You should allow your body a moment to rest and recover before heading back out to battle again.' Since Sephiroth knew well that Cloud wouldn't remain on the sidelines should they retreat.

If need be, he wouldn't hesitate in partially transforming in order to protect that which belonged to him.

So, they really hadn't been lying when they'd said that there was a war going on. It wasn't as if Bro doubted it, or had thought it was one big plot to keep inhabitants of he city under mass paranoia-- the thought'd occurred to him briefly, when he'd woken up as a newcomer and had gotten the rundown of his situation, but he'd dismissed the idea as quickly as it'd manifested. Too far-fetched and way too cliche, not that being revived only to be plopped into another warzone wasn't overdone in movies, either ( ... )

Crazy people. That's what he was running into tonight, just plain crazy people! Sure he watned to help out but...there was a very important person out there that he had to find first. He didn't know if Mulan was safe or not, the stupid machine that brought him here had dimmed that little helpful connection. Plus his pilot light...and the whole ain't nothing going to squish him power he had been pretty fond of. With a bit of a growl he hurried up, scurrying around pieces of...thing he didn't want to think of. Of course running with eyes half closed wasn't a good thing and pretty soon he felt himself run head first into something.

"Ow!"

The little dragon bounced back a few inches before rubbing his head and glaring up at the human he crashed into, "Hey! What the heck's wrong with you. Hangin' around while the place goes off!"

Bro had been privately debating whether or not he should pull out his Communicator and call someone who knew what the hell was going on for a bit of extra information (nah), when his thoughts were interrupted by a not-so-little voice coming from the general area of his left shoe. Tilting his shades down and looking over them, Bro glanced down at whatever it was that managed to plop itself right on over next to his foot.

...Oh. A tiny lizard-thing.

Okay, then.

"Shit man, let's be a Disney prince. If I sing, am I gonna attract more of you so I can go Snow White on these Kishin bastards or what."

Mushu dusted himself off, standing up to his full height. Which still put him somewhere below Bro's knees but the dragon wasn't paying attention to that.

"Man, if you're gonna sing better be able to knock those guys down!" He pointed at the kishin before glaring up at Bro. Snow White? What was that gonna do?

"Yeah alright Prince Charmin', you can deal with it that way. I'm betting that your weapon'll be a lot more painful."

He sort of moves behind Bro's shoe, his eyes locked on the Kishin still hanging around, "Unless you really can sing that bad to put these out!"

What was it with this place and getting randomly attacked?! It was crazy! Of course he had to be outside keeping an eye on things when the whole place went crazy. Right now he was perched in one of the trees a few streets behind the communal when he saw the first Kishin egg come in. It was strange to be scared of something that was pretty tame to some of the stuff he knew about.

It was probably that whole 'mortal terror' thing coming into play but he didn't want to admit that to himself quite yet. Hopefully, Mulan was still inside. Safe and sound and keeping herself out of this mess.

"Yeah. Right." It was gonna be a long night. He scrambled from the tree, heading right back towards the communal.

Lloyd had told himself he was going to help solve the problem this time and not be the cause of one despite the fact that he was at a severe disadvantage with only two regular swords to fight with. Even if he weren't on the Watch, though, he was getting sick of being no help at all.

So, right as he noticed the attack beginning, he left his room on the top floor of the Communal and headed downstairs and outside. His first thought was to see if anyone else was in the area and preparing to fight; working together would definitely be an advantage right now.

He stopped in his tracks when he noticed the small red...was that a lizard? Whatever it was, it didn't seem normal. But Kishin Eggs were supposed to be bigger, right? Lloyd just stared at Mushu. "What is that?" he asked aloud, obviously thinking he was the only one that would understand.

Mushu figured the guy was talking about the lovely demon things that were crawling over the walls towards them. So, being the helpful dragon that he was, Mushu figured he'd answer him.

"It's a kishin, man! Where have you been the last few days?" He shook his head, skidding to a stop and coming to a few realization. The more important one being that he'd just revealed himself to someone else.

Great.

"Don't jus' stand there, get outta the way!"

Lloyd just stared at him in shock and didn't really hear what he said. "You can talk?!"

Clearly the oncoming monsters had been temporarily place out of his mind.
