It didn't help that Terezi has ignored his orders to the point of coming over to poke at him while he worked. She'd refused to leave, even with all his yelling and insisting it was for her own damn good, so they were together when they hit the ground floor and left Casualty Communal.
And the kinshin eggs were already swarming.

He kept talking about kishin eggs and danger, and while she remembered well what happened last time she still didn't really understand the concept. It just hadn't become interesting to her yet. However, her nose picked up some strange smells as they went together down the stairs of Casualty Communal -- when they exited she could see everything.
"Hopy shit, they're actually everywhere!" She grinned, before turning over to Karkat and nudged him with her elbow. "So, leader, what do you suggest we do???"
Yup, he was only her leader when she decided he was.

"We run, dumbass," he responded, grabbing her hand and pulling her toward the school. "You don't have a Weapon; you can't kill these things. Come on!"
He only got a chance to pull her as far as a nearby alley before a kinshin egg dropped to the ground in front of them, humanoid and wild-eyed.
"SHIT!"

She turned to Karkat with a wicked grin. "Hey, you're a weapon aren't you?"

"Kishin Eggs when in their defeated red form have a profound effect of me," he replied but made it sound a little like a joke. He could fight as many Kishin Eggs as he wanted without any sign of his nausia rising, but the moment those little red souls appeared... well, he was going to try really hard. "Don't stand too close, since I ate this evening."
He turned his head to look around to see about the number of people in this area. Good thing he made the front line, he decided. Turning back to face the wall, he mentally scoffed at his partner. 'Is there anything in particular that you want? Speak now or I get to decide.'

The few targets that slipped by them were of no concern to the ex-General, as he was focused only on the ones that could deal any form of harm to Cloud. Nothing else mattered outside of the survival of his Meister, and he wouldn't allow for any attack to get passed his blade to land on the blonde.
'Perhaps' he said in return while Cloud launched himself towards one of the larger Kishin Eggs. His bladed form hit against the sharp claws, causing sparks to fly off of the metal, before Sephiroth felt the flesh of the creature's throat surrounding his length.
Such a situation didn't bother the ex-General in the slightest, and he coolly murmured in response, 'Yes, that must be the reason.'

He shifted his grip and pulled the long blade through flesh, cutting through vital blood vessels. The roar turned into a wet gurgle as the Kishin fell backwards with Cloud still firmly planted on its chest. The body disintegrated to leave yet another red soul, and this time he lurched forward to cough violently.
Backing up quickly, he held the Masamune defensively as his abdomen heaved with effort that he fought against. He managed to keep it to heaves and had to spit as he rose, batting away a Kishin as it flew at him, cutting it in half. A weak one, he thought. 'I'm not sure how much longer I can stay out here in the front,' he finally admitted, the gusto leaving his voice.

Still, he could feel the exhaustion beginning to settle into Cloud's body, and Sephiroth kept his silence as his Meister reacted to the sight of the glowing red orb. It left him frowning subtly, but the ex-General made no comment about the reaction.
'There are others who can take up the fight in our steed,' Sephiroth said after Cloud had batted away another Kishin Egg that flew in towards them. 'You should allow your body a moment to rest and recover before heading back out to battle again.' Since Sephiroth knew well that Cloud wouldn't remain on the sidelines should they retreat.
If need be, he wouldn't hesitate in partially transforming in order to protect that which belonged to him.

"Ow!"
The little dragon bounced back a few inches before rubbing his head and glaring up at the human he crashed into, "Hey! What the heck's wrong with you. Hangin' around while the place goes off!"

...Oh. A tiny lizard-thing.
Okay, then.
"Shit man, let's be a Disney prince. If I sing, am I gonna attract more of you so I can go Snow White on these Kishin bastards or what."
Reply
"Man, if you're gonna sing better be able to knock those guys down!" He pointed at the kishin before glaring up at Bro. Snow White? What was that gonna do?
"Yeah alright Prince Charmin', you can deal with it that way. I'm betting that your weapon'll be a lot more painful."
He sort of moves behind Bro's shoe, his eyes locked on the Kishin still hanging around, "Unless you really can sing that bad to put these out!"

It was probably that whole 'mortal terror' thing coming into play but he didn't want to admit that to himself quite yet. Hopefully, Mulan was still inside. Safe and sound and keeping herself out of this mess.
"Yeah. Right." It was gonna be a long night. He scrambled from the tree, heading right back towards the communal.

So, right as he noticed the attack beginning, he left his room on the top floor of the Communal and headed downstairs and outside. His first thought was to see if anyone else was in the area and preparing to fight; working together would definitely be an advantage right now.
He stopped in his tracks when he noticed the small red...was that a lizard? Whatever it was, it didn't seem normal. But Kishin Eggs were supposed to be bigger, right? Lloyd just stared at Mushu. "What is that?" he asked aloud, obviously thinking he was the only one that would understand.

"It's a kishin, man! Where have you been the last few days?" He shook his head, skidding to a stop and coming to a few realization. The more important one being that he'd just revealed himself to someone else.
Great.
"Don't jus' stand there, get outta the way!"

Clearly the oncoming monsters had been temporarily place out of his mind.
