[finally- a certain shinobi has been released from the clinic. at the moment, one could find itachi sitting on the couch in his apartment, fiddling with the communicator in his hands.]

Tch. A Witch has been caught, yet nothing here has changed. Is anything we are doing even making a difference?

Everything we do is making a difference, it's just not going to end the war that fast. [He's smiling, soft and subtle, but it plays in his words. Hopeful.] Who knows how many people we saved or protected with just this last mission.

War never ends, it only shifts it's direction.

I don't believe that. There has to be a time for peace, has to, just everyone has to want it and be willing to work hard for it.

There will always be that one person who does not want it, and that one person is usually enough.

One person can make a huge difference, can change the course of history, sure. But I think, against peace, it's all about the foundation you have built. If the foundation's strong, everything else will hold up.

Have you lived during such times of peace before?

[He didn't live much at all...]

Just because I haven't seen it doesn't mean it's not possible.

Your optimism is admirable, however I will not believe such I thing is possible until I can see it.

All hope starts with optimism, you know. And a huge part of peace is hope.

I do think every human has at least a tiny amount of hope within them- what I doubt it their ability to do anything significant with mere thoughts.

Then, they need the rest of us to motivate them into making their "mere thoughts" into a reality, don't you think?

Humans being idealistic is not enough to end a war.

How would that stop the one going on in this city?

An end has to start somewhere. Like I said, those ideas are the foundation; after that, it's all hard work.

We're doing the right thing now, fighting for the belief of peace. It's a process, I--I know that, but it's one I'm not giving up on.

While I find your reasoning to be foolish, giving up would be even more so.

[There's a small little sputter, then a significant huff.] It's not foolish, it's just positive. And right.

Everyone believes what they have to say is right.
