[He's not used to observing the positive side of things. Fortunately, that fact is about the only thing for him to take from this that doesn't involve anguish.]
Mmn. [A sound of assent is all he can manage at first. There's a pause before adding:] I guess that's it.
[Even on the remote chance Yuna returned, there is just as much chance that she won't retain memories of him. Logically, the odds are very much not in his favour. At least Auron does not have that problem.]
I see. [Vergil is not the compassionate type, but perhaps there is a small measure of comfort in knowing Yuna is better off.]
She's with the people she cares about now, at least. [That thought stings a little, on the other hand. If she's back home, her memories of him are already gone.]
I feel fantastic. I may break out into a full song and dance routine at any minute.
[Anger and bitterness are easy things to fall back on. That wasn't as much the case when Yuna was there for him, but then that is precisely the problem right now.]
[Oh God no. This is not the person he wants the Commander seeing. Vergil Sparda is never vulnerable or weak. And Roy is far too good at reading him, which is frustrating enough considering he has put so much effort into learning to give nothing away.]
[His voice is bleak, perhaps even a touch shaky. He hadn't even had a moment to think- shit. What the hell is this going to do to his resonance? He's not going to be able to sit around in an empty house forever, and by virtue of being his Weapon, the samurai is the one person who has the means learn what he's thinking - or feeling - more easily than anyone.]
[He'd argue if he thought that Koujurou was likely to be dissuaded. Responding via video also gives him away quite obviously as sitting on his couch in his apartment. Damn Video.]
At home. [Which feels strangely foreign, all of a sudden. It's comforting to know he'll eventually have to move out.]
[Given his distraction and the fact it's Voice, it might've been easy to confuse Date and Dante. Fortunately, Vergil knows Dante would have stammered something awkward or stupid.]
Plans? [He's silent for a moment.] What else can I do? All that's left is to stop wasting time and focus on getting stronger. [After the beating he took in Linz, he knows he has a long way to go. This whole... thing has been a distraction, and letting the girl get close has finally proven to be a weakness. One that he's feeling now. Purpose is all that he has left.]
[There's a small pause. As much as Date can understand where Vergil's coming from, he can't help but be worried about his friend. Last thing he wants is for him to be another Hideyoshi.]
If you need help, I'll be around. [A promise, as always. That's just about what Date can give, for now.]
If you want to help me, help me train harder. [Maybe a little terse. He doesn't take to sympathy well. He didn't have anyone holding his hand at age eight when his mother died, and he survived fine. Somehow. He'd begun to remember that feeling of loss much more vividly since coming to Death City, starting with Rin.]
[He exhales slowly, then adds more evenly:] If nothing else, the distraction would help. [Probably.]

[Which is probably among the worst feelings of all. The last time he felt powerless, it ended extremely poorly.]
