photo-dump, and a cool poem.
We read a really cool poem in my German class the other day. It was especially cool because Annalie wrote it down without any spaces and our job was to figure out where the spaces should go. It was tricky, too, because it's a bit of a play on words. It was called Ein männlicher Briefmark erlebte and it goes a bit like this:
Ein männlicher Briefmark erlebte

Ein männlicher Briefmark erlebte
was Schönes bevor er klebte.
Er war von einer Prinzessin beleckt
da war die Liebe in ihm erweckt.
Er wollte sie wiederküssen
da hat er verreisen müssen.
So liebte er sie vergebens.
Das ist die Tragik des Lebens.

A manly stamp experienced
Something nice before he was stuck to an envelope.
He was licked by a princess,
And that awoke the love in him.
He wanted to kiss her again,
but instead had to travel.
So was his love all in vain.
That is the tragedy of life.
Our assignment is to write our own poem or short story about a love like this. I think I'm going to write about a candle and a match who had a hot and passionate affair, and who dreamed they'd be together forever. But then the match burned down and was thrown to the ground and stamped out. Maybe that's a little bit sad. Who knows. I just know I squealed with joy because this is just such an adorable assignment!
But I know that's not really why you're reading this entry, so, here's some photos from my Galway experience thus far. This journal's going to be on a bit of a hiatus (if you couldn't tell) while I'm here, but you can follow my adventures at Keep 'Hold of Your Hat, which is my Ireland blog. :)
