Of Sky Buildings, Gay Districts, and Not Getting Too Lost

Sep 10, 2006 17:14

So, continuing with the current events, yesterday I played tourist like I haven’t done for a week. Amy and I finally went exploring the Fashion Mall place and I got tons of pictures of funny Engrish shirts. But I’ll save those pictures for a later post.

Later we met up with 6 other people and headed over to Osaka for an afternoon of sightseeing fun leading into an evening of dancing with gay boys at a club. Or so we thought. Nothing really went as originally planned, but I had a blast anyway.

Things I learned this weekend:

How to dance. In a train station.

That even if it’s only the sun’s reflection off the shiny shiny Umeda Sky Building, it’s still blinding.

That even though the Floating Sky Garden of the Umeda Sky Building has a 360 degree view of Osaka, most people will hang out on the West side to take pictures of the sunset.

Photos can come out pretty nice even when you’re just pointing and clicking because you’re getting bored. (Yes, I was getting bored. I have a short attention span sometimes. Wot?)

Even though we’re in Japan, in the building that advertises a fantabulous view of Osaka, there are photo ops with a Hawaiian theme. And people crazy enough to take advantage of them. XD

Even if they’re adorable, tentacle monsters will still go after the girls.

You can find really neat building designs in the gay district of Osaka.

And just because you’ve never actually made it to a club, be it gay or goth, without getting lost before, and just because you’ve got written directions this time, does not mean that you will find the gay club without getting lost this time around. Especially when said directions instruct you to “explore the lanes in the vicinity” to find the club. XD

And even when you find the club, and it’s got hilarious posters and things like this one posted to the walls, does not mean that you will find gay men dancing inside at 9:30 pm. You have to come back another time when you can stay out all night and catch the first train back in the morning.

They do exist.

And apparently gay Osaka men have a thing for penguins. They were everywhere.

Have I made you wonder enough, Mommy? ^___^ Remember, you’ve got Tall One to give you Other Grandchildren!

Now we return you to your regularly scheduled backlog of updates.
